Is this HD DOA?

So I got two WD Black 750GB drives. Plugged them into SATA2 and SATA5 ports on my Abit IP35-E MB (the IP35-E goes SATA1, 2, 5, and 6 - 3 and 4 don't "exist" on this mobo). On startup the BIOS showed one drive fine but the other showed BzBzBzBzBzBzBzBzBzBzBzBz as its identity. It was no surprise when it didn't show up in the Windows System / Computer Management panel. So I turned off the system and moved that drive to an external enclosure. When Windows came back up it detected the enclosure and said there was a drive detected, but again no drive showed up in Computer Management. I put my fingers on the drive and felt no vibration (as in spinning platters).

DOA?

It seems to be the case, yes.

If you can guarantee that the power connectors and SATA cables used to connect the hard drive are working, then I'm sure you have a DOA drive.
I checked the cables and all was proper. Once the first drive had finished formatting I shut down the system and plugged the suspect drive into the SATA port and power plug that the first one had been using. When I started things back up I was surprised to see the BIOS identify the drive, but for as many times as I tried I could not get Windows to start up. No errors, just wouldn't start. The drive still didn't feel like it was doing anything. After trying to start Windows about 6 or 7 times I shut things down and plugged the other 750GB back in. Windows started right up. Time to get a RMA from Newegg.

Thanks. I hate it when this sort of thing happens (who doesn't?). At this point I'm thinking that even on some off chance the drive could be revived from the dead (that drive ID showing up has me scratching my head) I wouldn't want to count on it for long term use.
