I've been owned, help me remove this

I purchased the CD G3: Live in Tokyo yesterday and listened to it on my pc, then i read "Sony BMG" on the back and remembered all that rootkit stuff that was going on with Sony so i decide to check on the internet and it turns out that the CD is one of the 52 Music CD's that has the rootkit protection.
Want to remove that crap from my pc, any help is greatly appreciated.

Microsoft malicious software removal tool will wipe that out in a second. No sweat.

EDIT - apparently it will detect it as well. So you will be fine if that disc really did contain the rootkit. It will detect it, and clean it right out. You have to remember that this all happened in 2005. So unless you are using XP SP1, you should be just fine.

I've heard their own tool is a total joke. Any updated AV program, or malicious software removal tool will do a better job.

I have AVG and spybot installed, AVG detected nothing, the XCP Uninstaller detected nohting, gonna check with spybot now.
Are there CD's without rootkit? I read sony started pulling them off the shelves after the scandal, maybe they replaced those with DRM-free ones?

It will remove it yes. Sony released this because they were being sued because the protection rootkit caused vunuralibilities so they were forced to remove it and make a tool available to the people who were affected.

I suggest running it and then you could always run a virus scan after that but I dont think it will be needed.

Yes it is rather possible that if you have bought it from a store shelf it is a newer DRM free version.

That is my guess as well.

It was bought from a store shelf, brand new sealed.
If nothing has detected anything thus far and you're not seeing anything wrong, I'd just leave it at that
