Whenever I play CoD4 on my new system, about 10 minutes or so into an online match the game will close and 'iw3mp.exe has stopped working' appears. I've search high and low for any solutions but everything seems to be failing me. Here are the things I've already tried:

Reinstalled Cod4

Reinstalled audio drivers

Plugged in a mic

I've read on a lot of different sites about enabling the stereo mix, but for some reason I get shown this:

I presume it lists the stereo mix as 'currently unavailable' due to having a separate sound card. I'm completely stuck, any help would be great.
Also, none of that 'Herrdderrr uninstall Windows 8' bollocks, I enjoy the new OS and if it's possible, want to stick with it and find a solution other than changing my entire OS just to play a game. A speedy response would be great.

Many thanks,
Vocc

Ah really? I thought it was down to my audio card drivers or something, any idea if there are plans to update PB? It's hardly used on any games anymore...

I had (and still have) the same problems. I also tried everything listed above bur nothing would work.So I dug in to the problem, because obviously sound drivers can't be responsible for this. So I looked in to the services and found out that one of the files in PB folder is causing problems. How to fix it I don't know, so I think we'll just have to wait for some updates.

Temporary solution (at least for me) is to play on cracked servers where game appears to run fine.
