Welcome to OCN's Mod of the Month competition! This contest is open to all the members of Overclock.net; If you have a computer and you have taken time to make it awesome then you could win! Whether you are a pro case modder or a first time builder with a fresh idea, this contest is for you! For past contests and winners, or to make a suggestion for future contests, click here.

Mod of the Month is back! To celebrate it's return after being gone for so many months, we have extra prizes! Also because of the long absence, nominations will be open starting immediately and will run through the remainder of December and the beginning of January to close on Jan. 22nd. This should make for a good showing in the January poll!

Extra Prizes for January 2012:

1st Place: $50 USD
2nd Place: $25 USD
3rd Place: OCN Lanyard and Applique

Contest Rules:

  • Competitors each month are selected by nomination
  • Any member may nominate any other member's work
  • A member may nominate their own work at any time
  • If a member wishes to decline a nomination they may and it will not prevent them from entering again in the future
  • If there are fewer than four nominations in any given month, those nominations will be rolled over to the next month's contest
  • A nomination post should contain the name of the project, the name of the member, and a link to the thread. Please do not post pictures of the mods in this thread because voters should read the worklogs themselves rather than skim through the nomination posts to make their decissions

  • Any build log is eligible so long as it meets the following criteria:
  • It is posted by an Oveclock.net member

  • Any build that is being done by a member for another person is considered to be the entry of the person performing the work
  • If there is question over who the credit for a build should go to, the build should not be considered eligible for nomination
  • In the event multiple members have worked on a project, the project should only be considered eligible if one of the members was clearly the primary contributor of both inspiration and work (this rule will be enforced by the honor of the members involved unless contested, in which case a staff member will consider the issue and post a decision)

  • It is not posted on any other forums
  • It is not a sponsored mod (as defined by the rules of the Sponsored Case Mods sub-forum)
  • The mod is either in progress or recently completed

  • If the mod is in progress, it must be substantially on its way to completion; meaning that voters must be able to gain a solid impression of the quality and aesthetic of the final product from the current state of the project

  • There has been a new update to the build log within 3 months of the opening of nominations
  • The build has not been entered in more than one previous MOTM

  • The winner will be selected by popular vote
  • The eligible nominations will be put into a poll for other members to vote on
  • It is up to each voter to determine what criteria they feel the nominees should be judged by, so long as they feel the one they select is the best.
  • You must be a member of the site before the start of voting to vote. Any votes by members who joined after the start of voting will be removed from the poll.

  • The prizes include:
  • $50 (USD) via PayPal to the first place winner each month
  • A Mod of the Month badge for first place that links to the winning build log below each of the winner's posts
  • Having the winning build log featured on the carousel on the site's home page for one month
  • Some months may have additional prizes for second and third place winners with will be announced along with the open of each month's nominations
  • Some months may have prizes for randomly selected members who offered nominations

Contest Schedule:

  • Nominations open on the first day of the month
  • Nominations close on the 22nd of each month
  • Three days are allotted to compile the list of nominations and verify their eligibility
  • Poll is posted on the 25th of each month with a duration of 10 days

I would actually prefer pictures of the builds being nominated not be posted in in this thread, simply because when people vote they should look into the actual worklogs, not just skim the best pic from each build.

that is an excellent build, and would be a great nomination, but sadly it is ineligible because it is posted on other forums (XS).

I look forward to seeing work from you in the future though!

Perfect! Polemos definitely deserves to compete.

I dont want to speak out of place here, but the way I have always interpreted that rule is that this is a community, it is large enough so that the modding community here is like one big family. If you take the time to get to know all of them, each and every one is an awesome person that would be willing to re-invest their skill and knowledge back into the community. That being said the contest is about reinvesting and promoting OCN grown mod, and then having the prestige of having the badge that shows your loyalty and commitment to OCN. Its all about investing into OCN by keeping it at home instead of blasting every single place you can with your mod. Most of those that just mod on OCN give back as much as they can into the community of OCN and should be able to have a way to be recognized, thus we have this contest.

Then again that is just my opinion.

kinda hate to say it, but it makes total sense

... i think there should be an exception for bit-tech though as it is like the home of modding (or if your mod is featured some where), as long as OCN is your home (like i have 3-10 posts on bit-tech, XS, overclockers.com, and all those, and 1300+ here

)

Thats how it is for me OCN is my home, i have almost 2000 posts here and like 30 on XS lol, i just was proud of my work of which i spent a lot of time on and wanted to share it with as many people as possible, the log was here from day one, i did it step by step here and then just copied and pasted it elsewhere when i was done. Not trying to argue the rule, those are just my thoughts thats all
