Right on schedule, Del Rey today announced the title of this latest work of fiction, Mass Effect: Deception. Due out this fall, Deception will continue the story of Gillian Grayson, who was introduced in the second book, Ascension -- in case you've been reading along. We're not sure if William C. Dietz has or not, but then he's pretty adept at making stuff up.

Been on a roll today. I spelled Portal - Portel in the other thread.
wow 3 responses!?!? I guess no one reads anymore. The ME books are very good though I'm just worried that this last one isn't by Karpyshyn, and might stray from the original writing style of the first books and games.
I've been wondering what happened to Gillian. I didn't like Retribution as much as the first two books.
I'm reading through the 2nd one now. They're pretty good. Quick reads, too. I'm just sad Drew Karpyshyn won't be authoring this one, but like the article said, he's on SWTOR, and his SWTOR book releases this fall.

gotta say i agree with you on that. the first 2 were great, especially the first one. and this is the first I'm hearing about it not being by Karpyshyn. that sucks, cause i really like his writing style. oh well. looking back though, it seems as if each one was not quite as good as the one before, so it might actually work out for the best

I'd say they make 100% more sense if you play the games. the characters of the books 2 and 3 are generally new from what i remember, but the world is best portrayed by the games. the first book is the backstory of anderson and sarren, so overall, id say play the games to get the most out of the books

and yes, they're pretty well written. karpyshyn has this writing style that is a very quick read, but it's not childish or juvenile. hard to describe, but i like it
