[Joystiq]Ubisoft Dropping World in Conflict Soviet Assault Console Version

Ubisoft has informed IGN that it has no plans to release World in Conflict: Soviet Assault to any console platform this month or anytime in the future. The PC version remains unaffected and will see a release later this month.

Soviet Assault's Xbox 360 and PS3 cancellation may be surprising for some, but for us, we questioned the project's console plans as of late. After the big Vivendi / Activision merger, Massive Entertainment's recent history and Soviet Assault's early delay, we knew something was up. Video game journalists just know these things. We call it "game-cancellation-intuition."

That sucks. While I have only played WiC for the PC, I'm sure there's going to be some disappointed folks who were waiting for a good game like this to head their way.
Another PC-only cool game. Nice. Although it may suck for the people who wanted it on the console, think of how many games you have that are not on the PC.
Pah, good. RTS is PC only, it doesn't work on the consoles.

Squad based RTS does work, and is coming to consoles SOON

Well at least we still get starcraft/medieval games. And we SHOULD still have arena frag games to ourselves, but nodody makes them

Yea, but as far as RTS' go that was extremely watered down (and imo boring), at least from what I could tell from the demo. It seemed to basically be, select all -> attack this with some individual unit commands if you wanted to even bother.

RTS is such a high-micro thing, I couldn't see one being translated directly to consoles and working, ever. They'd need to hybrid it or add some sort of weird mechanic. The controller just isn't made for precision selecting and moving about on the map - not to mention you lose all the possible binds (not just for selection/building/unit stances, but map locations as well) that a keyboard allows.
