So I bought a Club 3D 6970 GPU. I'm a beginner regarding OC, but I thought I could easily pull of the 950mhz / 1450mhz (the ccc max) with stock settings. Well, seems like this was not the case. I couldn't even pull more than 935mhz core oc before I would freeze in games and furmark. Even 935mhz isn't stable with 1.175v so I upped it at 1.225v. I'm idling at around 50c with two monitors and under load I'm at 70-73c.

The weird problem is that I can barely touch the memory clocks before it gets unstable! At the moment I'm forced to run the stock settings of 1375 because even at 1390 it got unstable in furmark.

So as a noob I got to ask some questions. How important memory clock is anyway compared to core clock? And did I just get unlucky with the card because for me these clocks seem very low after reading people easily maxing the ccc limits.

You are the first 6970 I heard having any trouble getting to 950/1450 with stock volts D:

Bad card, IDK about Club 3D, so that might be the cause.

Actaully I have the same problem with my 2 6970's. I can't get over a 935MHZ core with either card in furmark or games with out it locking up only to come back with "display driver has stopped working".

I asked here on the forums and found a couple others with the same problem but not a solid solution, are your symptoms similar to mine?

Have you disabled ULSP or whatever it's called?

Which Club 3D 6970 model do you have? There are two versions I believe.

I put it on my 6970 Lightning along with a Swiftech Waterblock and I don't break 55C on max load now @ 1025MHz Core/1500MHz Memory and 1.2 Core Voltage

Told you, it's amazing. IDK why others say MX-4 or other stuff is good. 75c in a 35C room was amazing.

They (the stock clocks) are up there pretty high at factory, unless you switch to water or have great case air cooling I wouldn't go much past 7-10%.
