Just Finished Gamer Pc Build, Need Help With Ram or sumthing

I just got done buildin my budget gamer pc the other day and realized after i got everything installed and so forth that it is only running at 2ghz instead of 3ghz.... well the problem is that cpu-z is showing that my ram is 6400 instead of 8500, but when i change the multiplier in the bios anything higher than a 6 multiplier, once i get into my account cpu-z will show the right clock speed and multiplier that i have set and then it just goes back to a x6 multiplier so i have to set it up like this in my bios instead of changing my multiplier cause when i do change it, it just auto readjust's itself back to x6 but anyways this is what i set in my bios cpu ratio 6.0, fsb freq 545, ddr freq 1086 or something around that like the second option down i think its a 1:1 setting cpu voltage to 1.28750 and finally my dram to 2.10 as well as disabling pci and cpu spectrum spread. my question is that i don't want it to reset my multiplier and i'd just be content with a stable 3ghz clock speed.... cause when i have it set like i have before its like 3.2ghz but it can't run prime95 for more then a minute without having a problem. Does anyone know what is going on with this lol ? i've also disabled the intel speedstep hoping that would change it from not auto adjusting my multiplier but if anyone knows what i should have my settings at so i can get a 3ghz stable stock speed that would be very helpful, and my computer specs are in my computer description any other questions just ask i am fairly new to overclocking and i'll try my best to understand w/e i just want to have my processor run at 3ghz lol i've read almost all the manuals on how to o/c and all this but i don't think having it 3ghz would be o.c when thats what its suppose to run at....

This is the same thing I had the other day, turn off in BIOS EIST and something called CS1 if you have that, but mainly EIST, this will fix the drooping in cpu-z/

If you turn off the EIST you will get your stock clock speed, its basically a power saver option that clocks the speed back by dropping your vcore down to save on power when its not needed, so when you turn it off it will run at the true stock clock all the time.

Oh alright cool, thanks man hopefully i can find it and all that which shouldn't be a problem i was just reading about the intel speedstep or whatever its called and thought that it might have been that, but i will do that and see what happends. thanks for the prompt responce though.

yep its Speedstep or EIST not sure which they call it in your bios. as oulzac said disable it and you will stay at 3.0Ghz
yea i got it working thanks for the quick responce tho, should be overclocking soon once i get a aftermarket cpu cooler

It's also normal for your RAM to show as 6400 instead of 8500, mine does it too since 1066 DDR2 8500 is basicaly higher binned overclocked DDR2 800 guarenteed to run at 1066.
