Is it safe to only have 1 of the power connectors attached?

In the bottom right are what the two cables they gave me look like. I only have one attached to the circle power ports with only one of the two connectors connected to the power supply. I have it running right now no problems yet. Is this safe to run like this? Is it underpowered?

it wont work unless you plug both power cables into it. you should be fine with the 6-pin to molex adapters they give you, that works fine, just dont only have one plug connected, it needs power to both.
You will need both... and what PSU do you have? It probably is underpowered.
why does it have 2? im guessing for that fan? my EVGA only has one.
no you don't need both.
I'm posting from the pc with it in it right now, and i only have one plug half supplied.
yeah if you try to play games your comp might shut off

If that is a GTS 250 it is supposed to have only 1 power connector, but if it came with 2 you have to connect 2

I would imagine. The PSU would probably shut off or the card would before anything bad could happen. (not liable if you try)

just game with 1 if you only have 1. galaxy do this crazy stuff, its for added stability when overclocking. fire up furmark or a game and stress the card, it will be fine.
What PSU do you have exactly?
the dell oem psu they usually use is 305w with 22a on the 12v...but its actually under rated. Its more powerful than it actually states. You would be surprised.

my brother ran a 9800 GT overclocked on a dell 305w power supply for over a year and its still running strong.
yeah, why did you get that gts 250? 50 AR? you should upgrade your PSU for stability sakes
or you can try using an adapter to connect them

I've heard that Dell PSUs are one of the few things about dells that aren't utter crap, lol.

It's pushing it slightly, but I think OP will be fine. I'd still try to get an adapter-thing going for that other connector.

DO all psu's come with the same connectors? I've never bought a psu because I've never needed to. Will it have the same plugs for my satas and dvd drives aswell as my mobo?

And if I can find another psu lying around, can i plug it in and use that as a separate gpu psu?

usually, the lower end, lesser power ones won't have it (300w-ish range) but anything usually 450W+ will have the graphics card 6pin connector standard. It's a 6 pin connector and only works with video cards. you probably can use another psu dedicated to powering the GPU but then you'd have to short out the two pins on the 24pin motherboard connector.

You need both. The GPU takes 150W max by itself (which is 75 W from the motherboard, and 75 W from the 6-pin), however, that does not leave much room for overclocking, and does not account from any random power surges. I say 2, no more, no less.
hey coldrush you have a dell, what model. I think i started out with the same computer you have.
