just got a OCZ Vertex 60GB for my mums PC. i had two WD hard drives in there and they have both blown up ( i will NEVER be buying from WD again. ) and i saw she had never even used up 50GB of space. i asked her what a gigabyte was and she was clueless but she knew what a megabyte was

so i bought her a SSD. the one i bought only came out on the 9th this month and it has 230mb read speeds

i just threw out the old hard drives and linked up the new SSD and windows 7 just installed in less than 7mins! SP1 in less than 5 mins! it boots up in less than 7 seconds!

i now officially <3 SSD!

thanks you OCN for nagging me to buy one

i will be buying two for my sig rig for RAID0

im running a ssd for a boot drive but.. im starting to think im going to run out of space soon. 40Gig its the intel x25-v ($100 @ BestBuy) (impulse buy). currently sitting at 29.2 gig used.

Anyway yes they are awesome.. if you got the cash and sata 6 gb/s mobo check out the next gen ssds they are sure to blow your mind!

yeah i was looking at them! 500mb+ read speeds!

Nice, can't wait for mine to arrive.

I just pulled the trigger on a 60GB Mushkin Callisto Deluxe ($135 but got it for free).

Had been waiting since earlier this year for 3rd gens but the pricing is disappointing (no price drop at all) and it seems like the real world performance of 3rd gens over 2nd gens is debatable.
