I got my CS1 yesterday and I'm wondering which awg speaker wires should i get?

this is my current setup

Onkyo TX-SR508
Klipsch Comm Satellite Speakers (pigwire)
CS1

does it matter if i get something like 16awg and when i splice the klipsch, they are 18awg... will it matter? does it have to be compatible?

I am running 12awg to my CS2, but I admit its overkill for such a short length of wire. I had some extra lying around, so I used it. You will be fine with any 16awg.

so if my klipsch was 14awg and i used a 16awg or 18awg to splice, i'll be fine?

I am not sure why you need to "splice" your satellites. Can you post a link to your speakers.

they are pigtail wires... only like 5" long lol

got them for ~$40

Oh I see what you mean by pigtail. Yeah you could solder the new wires to the pigtail and run them to your receiver or use a butt connector if you cant solder. Then run your CS1 with the new wires.

yep that's what i plan on doing... there are various ways to do it, but the easiest way is to use electrical tape.. not very efficient but does the job..

and butt connectors? hmmm never heard of em.

How long are you going to be running the wires? Also, wires aren't special, so don't go out and unload your wallet on Monster cables or any unreasonably expensive cables. I'm loving my $1 25 feet 16AWG copper/nickel cables.

where do you get those from , i just bought the onkyo s6300 at amazon for 486 . i was gonna do seperate but the receiver alone was 400 bucks so i pay 86 more for the 7 speakers , i need some 16gauge later , was thinking home depot or something

16 guage is fine in nearly any reasonable application in the home.

maybe 10-20'.... the lowest monoprice has is 50', but it's still fairly cheap

16Ga. lamp cord from any hardware type store will be as good as anything else
