Just ordered this CPU. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103547 it says Toledo. I had thought that 4200's were Manchester cores. Some of the reviews said this is an X2 4400 with half of the L2 cache disabled. Any way to re-enable this? What overclocks better a Manchester or Toledo? This will be my first dual core.

Weird. I'm gonna check it with CPU-Z when I get it installed and up and running this week. See if it does say Toledo.

Just got my X2 4200. I looked it up on AMD's website and its an E6, and 89watt. Here's the stepping from the IHS: LCB9E 0633 BPMW. I have not heard of this stepping, hope it does well. Ofcourse I'll provide progress on overclocking! Now I gotta throw this puppy in my board and see whats up.

All are toldeos now because the manchesters ran out. You have a failed 4400 most likely. They downclock it to a slower speeds as sell it as a 4200. The cache is disabled on die, you cannot re-enable it. Manchesters usually overclock better than the failed toledos...

Ok, got it installed and up and running. I even done a basic lap job on the heatsink. lol. I had some 220 grit sand paper so I went over it real good. Its definitly a Toledo core. Here's a CPU-Z screenie.

The JPEG fuzziness resembles cleartype. ...but you're on a CRT!
Thanks guys! I'm dual priming it now. Stock voltage and settings just to make sure its stable at stock. And I never had two primes running before either! lol. I set the affinity for each and started them up. If it passes 6+ hours I'm gonna start overclocking it. Maybe just wait an hour, I kinda want to get started overclocking. I did notice windows load alot faster. Seems pretty zippy. lol.

EDIT//// It runs pretty cool too. 36C load dual prime. Stock semi-lapped heatsink and Silverstone 96cfm 80mm fan zip tied to the heatsink! lol.
