Just something I noticed on my web server

I have a web server set up with static IP's. All is well with the web site access but I do notice something. With my modem setup for the static IP's and my network connections setup also as if I am a web server I find there are some sites I cannot connect to (this is not one , I connect here perfectly)

In paticular, if I try some downloads (like Silverlight for viewing NetFlicks) it will not connect. This is not so tragic, but I was wondering what is up.

Soon I want to move away from Apache and try Microsoft Web Server (primairly because of the documentation provided by Microsoft) I just don't feel comfortable with Apache as all support is through the various Forums. Any comments?

Not quite sure what you're getting at... but if you're running into problems connecting to sites, the first couple of steps for troubleshooting is determining if you have (1) a DNS resolution issue or (2) a routing issue to the destination site.

nslookup is the Windows command-line utility to see if you can even resolve the target hostname.

Tracert will trace the route to the destination host.

Check both to see if there's a possible issue.

There is official support documentation for Apache.

Apache is one of the, if not the, most used open source project of all time. It's used by almost half of the internet. I think you can expect it to work well, and be well documented.

Latty, you are absolutely correct Apache is number one in web servers, where can I find documentation? As of now I just find Forums to log on and post questions.

My problem is when I use my web server to browse the web (I know sounds kinda odd but people dual use web servers) there are some sites it just will not connect too "internet connection not possible" is the message I get.

I can't think of anything to do with your problem, but the Apache docs are here:

http://httpd.apache.org/docs/

It is well documented, like most large open source projects.
