Ok so I just booted up my sig rig for the first time and nothing displays on my monitor, no BIOS or anything. I moved the GPU to the top PCI-E port, retried, nothing. Tried both HDMI ports, and the adapter, nothing. The mobo is giving me an "FF" as a troubleshooting code, which in the manual says :
FF: Power On-> Run to FF. [system booted normally, the graphics card was not connected properly or is defective]
FF: Power On-> Prompt stopped at FF. [MB is defective]
At this moment I believe its something to do with my GPU? as i cant even see anything on the screen. Im guessing my mobo has no idea what the 5850 is, but i could be wrong. any help would be MUCCCHHH appreciated... maybe even a phonecall if u wanna try to help me quick fix this or something, ugh.
This actually happened to me before. Not sure if it will work the same for you but when I emailed EVGA that the refurbished board that I received from them through RMA wasn't working (everything powered up but no display) while the LED code said "FF" (which indicated that the computer is booting properly with no problems) they told me that the BIOS chip on the board may have come loose during shipping and that I should give it a little push or tap. Did it and it actually worked...so give it a try...I'm assuming that it should look similar to this...
If that doesn't help...if you can...try a different GPU, try the same GPU on another computer to see if it works, using only one stick of memory at a time on different slots, trying a different set of memory, checking memory on a different computer, pretty much anything to rule out what may indicate the problem. Troubleshooting is a long process...if worse comes to worse you can RMA the board and get a replacement. Good luck.
Some idea's I would try in your situation. I notice you have some quality components, but something else might be bad besides the video card. Is that the only card you have around to try? Try another card to rule out your card. Have you tried using different 6pin PCIe power cords on power supply? Just maybe it's power? Also maybe try one stick of RAM at a time to rule out RAM. I would double check and triple check all cables and hardware is seated properly. I have had problems posting before with RAM not fully seated. If none of those things work... I would RMA your board first. Hope this helps.
have you tried reseating the card? also have you removed all but 1 stick of ram and try to boot as well? usually when i get no monitor signal its almost always fixed with a cmos reset, but since you have tried that we will have to look elsewhere. do you get any beeps during boot?
I removed one stick of RAM and now on the boot up the system speaker gives off 3 beeps, Long, short, short. doesnt this mean that my GPU isnt recognized?
Also, i tried resetting the cmos after this too, still nothing.
I believe I'm running out of options. I dont have another GPU available to me (College Station area), ive tried both sticks of RAM, in each slot, disconnected the HDD, disconnected the CD Drive, tried the GPU in different PCI-e slots, I'm not missing a jumper anywhere am i?

Try the RAM in each different dimm slot and try each stick separately.
Here is a link to your manual I was skimming through it. One long beep is RAM. One long beep followed by three short beeps in a GPU issue. There are some different jumpers for your PCIe slots that I am not sure about... you also have two separate cmos jumpers to clear.. here is a pic. I would try clearing both cmos jumpers if you haven't already done that. I would clear them for 60 seconds just to be safe.

i do believe that the beep code means display adapter problem. is there onboard video? hook it up with that first. then see if you can change the bios to primary display pci-e slot. other than that im still thinking on options that might help you. also usually if its a ram problem you will get one log beep if i remember correctly.
Check out page 32 and 33 of the manual. They have some jumpers for PCIe slots. Something to try. Your board has a ton of different jumpers all over it. Read through the troubleshooting on pg 153 maybe it will help out.
indeed. It keeps giving me the "FF" error as usual. Those PCIE 3 jumper settings are apparently for the 3rd PCI-E slot, at least thats what some other forums say.
mmm I see.. thanks everyone! I'm trying one last CMOS reset/total power drain just for ***** and giggles, do you think Best Buy or a local computer store would let me test my 5850 to see if its a brick? If it isnt I guess i'll just RMA this board, pluh.
