nah i think water is ok, if you have a good setup it should keep it nice and cool

phase or LN2 is the best on these chips though

Thats way to hot for my tastes...hopefully its just the a bad seating...
I would hate to put my mobo through those temps....even if the chip can handle it...

There is great irony when your CPU is running hotter than your videocard!

Haha, it was worse when I saw the 99c picture, then later I saw a 170c (Phase) picture I was like: "WTH. Does this proccy need cooling at all?"

Remember that the C2D CPUs use a digital temperature sensor thats actually inside the core, instead of an analog thermal diode on the bottom of the die. Its a more accurite sensor, plus its actually inside the core, where its much hotter. That means that a Prescott that has a limit of 65C probably has an actual core temp of 95C at that limit.

I think I did a pretty good job of throwing some doubt into that theory, if not completely disproving it. Added to my sig.

As for a Kentsfield running "fine" at 100c.....Kentsfields are simply 2 Conroes on the same die...if a Conroe can't take that heat, neither can a Kentsfield. Even if it "ran fine" during the test, I would be suprised if it was "running fine" months later.
