I have a Knight KN-928 tube amplifier (from the '50s?).
It's been recently re-tubed and deoxed. Very good cosmetically and works perfectly.
I have the original metal case.
Will drive a set of Klipsch Heresys louder than you want to listen to.

Anyone hazard a guess at it's value?

One Model above what I have. It's 40/40 watts, mine is 28/28 watts.

Indeed there's a thread about the same model you have (28 watts) on AKA

Have you ever heard of worthpoint? they offer advice when it comes to vintage stuff pricing.

Worthpoint... I don't do "give us your CC number and you can cancel later" stuff.

I think I'll put it up on ebay with a starting bid of $600 and see what happens.

Well under the key words "vintage hifi" i found some second hand shops etc that could give soem hitns, however for some reason this was all either in germany or Austria, so probably not helpful for you.
