way to answer my questions.

and it was between that and a nikon coolpix S203 which wasn't quite as good.

Actually, Moots did answer your questions with that review. Despite their popularity, Kodak's cameras are mediocre at best. Sure, they offer compelling features with a low price, but the performance and image quality is well below the average. If you read that review, the camera had severe lens issues (very noticeable barrel distortion at the wide end, slight pincushion at telephoto end), and the colors were prone to blowing out and clipping. It took forever to start up and get the first shot, and the shutter lag was appalling.

In short, look elsewhere. For that price I'd be looking at the lower-end Canons and Fujis.
Heck even some of the more recent Casio's have been kicking the crap out of Kodak. Personally i would stick with what laboitenoire said find a nice lower end Canon or Fuji and i'll add in Pentax as well.
Being From Kodak Town "Rochester" Myself and having my whole family work in the factories. Ill tell you straight up they suck. I have owned several and had nothing but trouble. The battery life is beyond poor, the IQ isnt all that great, and the prices are the same as all other competing cameras. Look at Nikons, Canons, Olympus, and some Fugi's. If you want a good Kodak Item get a photo printer. Them IMO are good.

This isn't computer hardware, you don't judge just by specs.

Anyways, everyone else in this thread is right, it's terrible.

Well i bought it anway, because you guys waited a bit to long to help me here lol. Eitherway im happy with it. And it does not take forever to start up and get the first shot, i can press power and take my first photo in under 1 second. And i dunno what shutter lag is lmao.

EDIT: Oh and i only have 1 gripe with this camera, the screen kinda sucks. Pics don't look very good on it, but look very nice once uploaded to computer.

Shutter lag is the delay from when you push the release to when the camera finally takes the picture. In that amount of time, your subject can easily move out of the shot if it's too long.

Well, if you like it, then good I suppose. As far as the delay, we did answer your questions pretty quickly, you just didn't read the article Moots posted

There wasn't any problem with shutter lag from what the review said, but it did say that the camera "hunts" for focus a lot, and it can take upwards of 1 second for it to lock onto the correct point.

Nikon, Canon, and any well-respected brand has years of high end tech that trickles down to the lower end (like Point and shoots). So their P&S don't suck as much as other brands without any past high end tech or experience to use (like Kodak, who has never made a high end digital camera)** Nikon and Canon also have the best AF sensors and engines in the industry and blow past every other brand. There's a reason you don't see anyone but Canon and Nikon at sporting events.

But anywho, if you're happy with it, and can produce good images from it. that's what's important. I wish you the best

**Note that the digital backs that Kodak made for Nikon in the 90's were very good in the day. Kodak doesn't really have a problem with their high end sensors, it's the whole system (the camera) they produce that tends to be lacking in quality. A good sensor is meaningless if it's behind crappy glass, has a horrible AF system, poor metering system and image processor.

Okay moot, thanks for the insight. The review is right about the focus but that is really only if you zoom in at 8x+ that ive noticed.

All in all for $130 its not a bad camera id say.
I've been hearing good things about the lumix TZ6/TZ7 recently, might be worth a look. 12x optical zoom on a point and shoot is a pretty compelling feature to if takes decent pictures.

Sorry, but this camera is horrible. If you didn't want to wait for people to respond, and you don't know anything about cameras at all, then why even post???

I just purchased mine, and it's terrible. I'm taking it straight back.

The lag makes it COMPLETELY unusable for sports pictures. Can't take pictures of any of my sons lacrosse games. Low light is a nightmare. Finding a suitable distance to STAY in focus is another problem.

I'm reporting this because; I wish I had come to this forum BEFORE i purchsed this piece of crap...
