Assassin's Creed 2 may be well underway, but it's not the only AC game on the horizon, as it's been announced today that mobile port specialists Gameloft will be bringing the series to the iPhone.

Apparently the gameplay will still feature free-running over city rooftops and across multiple cities, though we'd think these would be smaller in scale than the game's console counterparts. Still, nice to hear Gameloft are at least trying to capture some of the main game's feel, instead of just sticking Altair behind some sandbags and have him throw knives all day.

There's no word on a release date or price as of yet.

Oh, fun fact: Assassin's Creed is owned by Ubisoft. Ubisoft is run by Yves Guillemot. Gameloft is run by Michel Guillemot, Yve's brother.

This is probably a good reason why I might buy an iPhone.

The picture looks epic but I know that it was a bit of photoshop.

Surprisingly, some games look great on the iPhone. GREAT FOR A PHONE I MEAN, NOT AS GREAT AS THE SCREENSHOT

I MEANT SOMETHING LIKE THIS:

I'll be amazed if iPhone graphics ever get that good.

you're joking right? Those are screenshots made by the devs for the original Assasin's Creed just cropped onto an iPhone. They are not real. And they will never ever ever get that good on an iPhone ever.

I have fixed my post because it was badly worded. When I said screenshot, I meant screenshot of the ORIGINAL game...

dont hold your breath, that is just photoshop, no mobile platform will mimic console/PC like graphics, the closest ive seen is the PSP,

dont fall for iphone graphics if you saw Assassins creed on the DS, thats what its going to probably look like!

you have been warned, i dare you to watch youtube videos of the pitiful port

YEA! Graphics are what count! Amirite!?

P.S

I am saving about a page ranting on good spirit about the first 6 responses pointing out the graphic limitations of the iphone. I believe the only people who would believe the iphone is capable of volumetric fog and softshadowing is a 12 year old ( no offense to you youngins). Its called a marketing GRAB or aka publicizing the upcoming port!one.
Looks better than the PC!

Thats what I always thought to but aparently not anymore. Now they are for killing time with multimedia/games and for texting. Nobody talks on the phone anymore.
