Just in time for MMO Final Fantasy XI's security token comes three expansion scenarios. The first, A Crystalline Prophecy - Ode of Life Blessing, will be able this month.

Plot-wise, Square Enix explains, "One day, a giant crystal appeared in the skies above Jeuno, triggering a series of unexplained happenings across the land. Now, adventurers will set forth to unravel the mysteries of this primordial crystal that holds the secret of Vana'diel's past."

A Crystalline Prophecy - Ode of Life Blessing is the first of three packs, helmed by Final Fantasy XI designer Masato Kato. Kato also created the first FFXI expansion pack Rise of the Zilart as well designing Chrono Trigger and Xenogears.

A Crystalline Prophecy - Ode of Life Blessing is available from March 23, 2009 for US$9.99 via PlayOnline Viewer. Players who purchase the expansion scenario will not have access until the upcoming April update. Two addition add-ons have also been announced: A Moogle Kupo d'Etat â€" Evil in Small Doses and A Shantotto Ascension â€" The Legend Torn, Her Empire Born. Both of these will be released later this year.

This is actually quite old. Like, last year old. Why would Kotaku be posting this now?
Idk. I guess Kotaku's a bit slow.
The real question is why did you post 10 Kotaku articles within the past half hour?

Nobody posted any of them and I found them all to be relevant news.

The real question is - why not?

Alright, I was just saying, it looked spammy.
Is this game still alive? I played it the first month it came out but never stuck with it, didn't even know the game was relevant anymore.
I just thought I'd try it out because it was at CC for $10 with all the expansions, and I HATED it. There is NO instruction when you start the game, the controls are horrible, and the graphics are much worse than something you would find online for free. Such a letdown, I was hoping it would be a decent game for $10.

very alive
I haven't played it for awhile but there are still a ton of active servers. So much that they've actually had to create new ones to balance it out.

I highly suggest a controller like an Xbox or PS2/PS3 controller.
I don't see how you didn't like the graphics. They are really fleshed out and colorful as compared to most MMORPGs not to mention, it came out in 2002 (somewhere around there).

The console versions I cannot account for. I've heard the PS2 version looks pretty meh as compared to the PC and Xbox 360.

I still LOVE FFXI, but I don't have to play it much these days, i'm hoping to finish some of my work and get on it again, because its just awesome!

And even if I already knew this from long ago, it's still good news =D

Me too - I'll drop in for like a week, but then stop for 3-4 months. I just can never allocate enough time for it.

Quoted for truth. This guy has 266 posts, registered this month, and of those posts, 96 of them were threads created. That is TOO much, he's probably fishing for 35 rep so he can sell some stuff.

On topic, I used to play FFXI and I can say that this game takes SO much time. I quit about 4-5 months ago (and made $6000
), and I've never looked back. If you're looking into MMORPGs and you're a casual player, don't even think about FFXI as it takes inordinate amounts of time to get things done.

This game is why I liked WoW so much, I detested my few months playing this game so bad that WoW seemed like the most amazing thing ever.

I may not have even played WoW as long as I did had I not been coming from this thing

My level 36 mage named ClarkKent is still sitting idle somewhere, same place he's been for 6 years and the same place he'll stay

I got bad news, they delete your character when you cancel, after a certain amount of time.
