The "Imperial Edition" of the game will come with a copy of Napoleon: Total War, an "illustrated wallchart biography of Napoleon Bonaparte" and download codes for two exclusive unit packs...the standard edition comes in at £30 (USD$50), the Imperial Edition is £50 (USD$80)

Just the price alone turns me off form this "special" set...
Esp with what it comes with....

Guess I'm waiting to hear an official US price since they only put up the price for UK...

so this a new game based on the same engine as empire?

I wonder if this will merit a new game price, instead of a expansion.
SO, 50 pounds for an expansion, with units which will be released much later for a lot less?

and all this considering the bug filled state that Empire came in, and considering they still have not released the multiplayer campaign they promised?

CA have gone down the toilet, and this reeks of money milking... not as though the game was as good as Rome in the first place.

though the box art does look very very slick

Unfortunately CA messed up bad with Empire. It was 3 months after buying Empire that I finally managed to finish a campaign that didn't crash completely because of *insert ridiculous bug here*

Not a snowballs chance in hell that I'll pick up Napoleon on release. Considering I still play Rome & Medieval TW, while Empire gathers digital dust on my Steam account.

Yea I will stick with Empire. The units will practically be the same.

I have racked up over 312 hours of playtime on empire total war.

What is important that ive have NEVER been able to complete a world domination campaign.
There are alot of bugs still, there were even more. Every time i try to complete my campaigns after a steam update, the games saves never work. Im talking about 5 times tried! (5 different campaigns). And i very much doubt i will be picking this game up soon after release, because of the amount of bugs i expect the expansion to be released with.

Though the cost of the game has never bothered me. I believe buying empire total war is worth much more than its asking price. Considering games today, u dont get alot of bang for your buck. The expansion looks big enough to warrent a full asking price. Although of course id rather it be alot cheaper.

I still love ROME. But I might pick up empire. Are people actually buying these ridiculesly overpriced special editions, like the mw2 spy googles version etc? I wish companies would stop trying to get us with this crap.
I'll definitely be buying this game, I love all the totalwars, ETW just feels alot better then the older ones now (improved campaign AI) and I barely play the battles anyway.
If they will actually start fixing the bugs that will be in this game (they haven't fixed the major bugs in Empire: Total War) then I might consider buying this.
I have to admit, I loved Empire, but the new 1.5 patch just f***ed everything up for me, I'm no longer able to start up the game, it just gives me a CTD.
So much for those 38£ :swearing:

It all started going downhill after shogun but I guess rome and barbarian invasion were loads of fun (and still probably my favorites).

you bet they are. i wasted my youth on them!

i agree that they slowly started to screw it up after rome. in medieval 2 i remember hundred times of clicking just to move one damn troop of 40 men.they got stuck between the buildings, half follows my command other half goes somewhere else... the thing was like a nightmare sometimes, it drove me crazy in the end.never played since.

Did you try deleting the appdata folder? 90% of the time this fixes the problem

I don't know why you guys are complaining about empire, it's very fun at patch 1.5.

it's up on Steam now. $40 for the normal version, and $50 for the imperial edition. decent, considering the imperial edition gives you Medieval II total war as well.

Every time I see Empire has got patched I go back and give it another go, then bam, crashes and burns.

I'll pass on Napoleon.

I ahve to be honest. I love me Rome Total war and Medieval 2. Empire was a good game and i personally never had any issues with it, other then it just felt lacking some compared to the older games.
