[Kotaku] Wii's Dead Space Will Last as Long as Original

Tidbits from a chat with Dead Space: Extraction's production team dropped a few tidbits, which add up to promises that the title will be a full game on its own, not a warmed-over port.

According to Skewed & Reviewed:

• Dead Space Extraction will take "about as long as it took players to play through Dead Space," according to someone unnamed on EA's production team. If that's so, they're building a rail shooter (yeah, it's a rail shooter) to last a dozen hours or so. It'll be interesting to see how they do that without getting boring or repetitive.

• New areas of Aegis VII (the mining colony where the infection breaks out) and the ship Ishimura will be revealed.

• The co-op mode will allow a second player to jump in mid-session, rather than require both players to start the mission together from the beginning.

• Vague promises of new weapons, badder enemies, different bosses to battle, etc.

Well...that's about the whole point of putting a shooter on the Wii xD Of course it'll be point and shoot

I may just buy this no matter what, because there hasn't a "Ooh, interesting" game for the Wii in ages.

Its what the Wii does best, there is no denying it. The Wii is like rail shooter paradise.
I wish all the Time Crisis games were to be ported to the Wii. It'd be perfect.

of course not.

Why would a rail shooter come on the PC first off? All of the House of the Dead releases were utter fail on the PC not only because of bad port period but because its too damn easy.

The only other console it would be good for would be the PS3 but thats only because the PS3 has the Guncon. Chances of that happening are slim to none either though.

What are you talking about?
You clearly do not know what a rail shooter is.

lol i'll be the nice guy about it, rather than insult your lack of intelligence on the subject

a rail shooter, or more properly named, an on-rail shooter, is a shoot-em up style game in which you as a player views the game from a first-person perspective, however you do not have or use any motion controls. you follow a pre-designated path automatically, with your only goal being shoot everything in your path. the only controller you use is a light-gun, the Gcon for PS1 is one of the best known, which goes with Time Crisis. the Wii-Remote also acts as a light gun, due to the fact that it works via infra-red. to more enjoy an on-rail shooter on the Wii, its best to get a gun-shaped controller like the Perfect Shot or Wii Zapper, for a more realistic feel, rather than the sense you are pointing a TV remote at the TV, trying dramatically to change channels.

Time Crisis, House of the Dead, Virtua Cop, any game at an aracade where you use a gun to shoot targets while the game moves you around, is an on-rail shooter. the rail being the line or path you automatically follow.

so yeah, you obviously had no idea what it meant, but now you do.
