I've been using Steelseries Xai for the last year or so, but recently I started having some problems. Earlier, I've been playing CS on XP and I've never had any problems with acceleration, but now on my new PC I'm using Win7 for CS and... it's just not the same, acceleration definitely exists and I'm not sure if its 'cause of the Win7.

I can't go back to XP 'cause scaling is awful and lower resolutions are blurry as hell (wasn't like that on my old pc). The tricky part is, on Win7 lower resolutions look like 10 times sharper.

Besides, boot with Xai connected lasts for around 120 seconds... and it's really starting to piss me off.

So, I've been looking both Kova+ and DA 3.5G, and I'm not sure which one is better. Someone told me that Kova+ has the best optical sensor with low LOD and no acceleration whatsoever.

Any thoughts?

apply the MarkC windows 7 mouse acceleration fix.

If you can verify that it doesn't have mouse correction. then it just comes down to grip. Kova+ is claw and DA is palm. The Kova+'s low weight is a major advantage, though.

That's a Roccat Kova review though, I think it's been replaced with Kova+ everywhere. New sensor, now has drivers, but still the same design (so yes still fingertip).

TBH I wanted to get Kova at some point, but couldn't find it anywhere (turned out because it was being replaced with Kova+), but the new one has off-center sensor so I decided not to.

Yeah, I use claw grip and that's one of the reasons why Kova+ seems like the way to go.

How much would the off-center sensor be worse when compared to mice with centered sensors? I've never even tried one with off-center sensor...

Looks like it's moved slightly to the left while still being centered vertically, so maybe it's not bad at all. But yes I've never tried a mouse like that either so it would be interesting to hear from someone who did.

if you are using claw you should consider the cm storm spawn

it has a very similar sensor to the deathadder and is perfect for claw

I've used one mouse with an off center sensor (g9, g9x) and one with a centered (DA). It really doesn't make a difference. The g9/x is centered vertically though... I don't know what it would be like to use the G500, but they say the weight distribution of that mouse is a bit off. I don't know if that matters either though.

I still haven't decided on which mouse to take. Does anyone know how good Kova+ sensor really is? So far I've found info on 130 inches per second and 30g of acceleration, but what about FPS? I'm somehow skeptical about Deathadder 'cause of its high lift off distance and some rumours about 3.5G sensor being worse then 3G.

Nope. You should be our guinea pig.

I'm pretty sure you don't need to worry about that. Mice as old as the WMO have been giving 6000+ FPS and because of the limitations of USB 2.0 you're not getting anything special after 1000 FPS. (i'm probably making this up)

The LOD is high, but those rumors are false (using the v2.41 or higher firmware). If you value useless amounts of CPI then the S3888 is even better than the S3668.

Nah, never liked being the first to have something.

I'm asking because Xai has like 12000 FPS and it seemed more accurate than any other mouse I've ever used. Damn that accel and boot bug.

I only use 1800dpi and 400dpi, depending on the game, so I don't really care about useless amounts of dpi.
