Thats a good idea. The back of my ipod is really scratched. I hope to see your pics, I might try it on mine if all goes well with yours. Good luck!

3m Finessit can polish the scratches out of almost anything thats plastic. From cheep clear lenses, polycarbonate (ie Lexan) headlamps, tail lamps on cars... etc.
Molded plastic that is colored to, but sometimes the area that is polished has a slightly shiner appearnace.

Im not really polishing it

im going to lap the metal side to a mirror finish : )

the ABSOLUTE worst thing that could go wrong is if i go all the way through

in which case i would just have to buy a new back cover for a whopping $17 at my local best buy

well im uploading pics in a minute
the back of ipods is slightly concave

I used the sanding bit on my dremel to even it out

Need pics now. Also can you post how the ambient temps dropped from the lapping and are you going to try to overclock a little more out of it so the shuffle function will speed up.

Get some pirxcks up!

I think that is the grossest misspelling of pics possible. It's supposed to be emphasis.

I don't see how you are going to get any better than the mirror finish that comes on it. Besides it would be flat and rough on the edges not rounded.

You've never seen an Ipod then. Once those things hit the air, they scratch like crazy.
