I was going to lap my 9500 and the IHS on my 3.0E but I cant seem to find my piece of glass for lapping. Would it be ok to use plexiglass or acrylic glass instead of a real piece of glass? I know glass is used because it is flat but I'm not sure if other things are flat too.

Don't use anything that will flex like that, it will cause the surface to become domed out, only use a perfectly flat, rigid surface, like glass.

I wouldn't trust it only because even if you find a thick enough piece to not flex you can't guarantee its surface is flat and not warped. Id wait till either you find your glass or come across another piece.

If you can find a piece of plate glass, it's a lot smoother than window glass..I get mine at a local glass place , just ask for some scrap plate glass, they will usally cut it for you to..I like a 12" x 12"in piece...

If you don't already have the sand paper, you can buy this kit and it comes with the glass piece too.<br />
