the process of sanding the cpu and heatsink surfaces to create a flatter surface for better thermal contact and better heat transfer
Such an extreme difference in temps tells me that there was another factor besides lapping such as a bad IHS set. Either way though awesome work!

I have this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835233029

Would be great to be pointed to a legit lapping guide for one of these

The TRUE was in need of lapping.
The ProMega was not flat either.

My cm690 case requires MB removal to remove CPU HS.
So a before & after lap temp comparison was too time consuming.

With an i7 920 @ 4GHz prime small fft 40 mins, max cores 58c.
So the Pro Mega lapped is doin ok.

Have lapped quite a few, am getting the hang of it now

I wouldn't do it unless there was a proper tutorial, too scared for the heatsink haha

well...im not trying to convince you to do it, if you want to go for it its honestly not that difficult. if you dont want to or dont feel comfortable doing it then dont.
