Hello, I'm working on a laptop for a friend its a hp pavilion dv9000. When the computer boots the LCD remains black. But, when i plug it into a monitor it show the desktop but the LCD screen still remains black. Also if I turn the lap top upside down and boot it up the LCD screen works only at the log in screen for vista. I know this is a common problem for these laptops and there was a extended warranty to replace the motherboard due to this black screen issue. But, I still am having trouble understanding why the screen will only work in the upside down position. Is it just a heat issue?

Thanks for any help.
