I have a laptop that I use when I am on the road, here are some of the stats:
Compaq BTO 12 XL3 (1200 series build to order)
P3 Coppermine 1.0 Ghz
128 SODIMM 133 mhz memory
Win 98 SE/Ubuntu Linux
40 GB HDD
So far, the only thing bad on this machine is the charger board; it doesn't charge the battery, so I am always on AC power.
I installed some software (old game, X-wing v Tie Fighter) and a joystick (Saitek X-45). During the installation of the joystick, it is required to reboot. The laptop stopped responding at the shutdown spash screen. I removed the AC power and restarted. The computer boots to the point where I see the Win 98 splash screen... and it turns off on its own. Again, I am not on battery but AC power.
Is this thing done for?
