So I acquired some new-to-me parts just recently, and I finally got around to take some pics and working out all of the little bugs in the system. So here goes:

Before:

After:

The old hardware:

(Figured I'd justify the old parts by giving them nice pictures, even though my camera is crap ._.)

Annnd the new stuff, not many pictures outside of the pc, got too excited

Messing around in the BIOS, and saw that ASUS spelled Memory "Memeory"

So, now for the specs:
OLD
-ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe
-AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ overclocked to 2.9 "daily driver speed"
-2GB OCZ Gold DDR2 800mhz

NEW
-ASUS M4N75TD
-AMD Phenom II X6 1045T 2.7ghz stock (non oc'ed yet)
-8GB Corsair Vengeance LP Blue 1600mhz (Running at 1333mhz because the Thuban doesn't like 1600mhz)

And the rest of the parts that stayed the same:
-3x200GB drives, Maxtor, WD, and Seagate
-Xigmatek Gaia 120mm cooler
-NZXT Source 210
-NZXT Sentry Mesh Fan Speed Controller
-Cheap Cooler Master Fans
-Ancient Cooler Master 460W
-EVGA 9800GT 1GB

What's next...
A more powerful PSU
1TB Drive
SSD
Hopefully a 7870
and after that?

Current Specs...

-ASUS M4N75TD
-8GB Corsair Vengeance LP Blue 1600mhz (2x4GB)
-AMD Phenom II X6 1045T @ 3.4ghz
-1TB Seagate Barracuda
-Corsair CX600M
-ASUS GTX 660 2GB DirectCU II OC

As for benchmarks, the only thing I've done so far is play BL2. With my old setup, I'd get 10-15fps with everything turned down. With the new setup, I get 30-40fps with pretty much everything on/max at 1920x1080. So my CPU is no longer a bottleneck for my GPU

*Will update benchmarks when I get time to run them*

I also ran P95 SmallFFT for 11 minutes, and didn't get higher than 34C. It idles around 16C via CoreTemp, not sure if these are correct. I will be updating with overclocks, but it's going to wait until I can get a new power supply, don't trust this one.

So, thoughts? Opinions? Any feedback is welcome

LOVING IT

It's so nice to step into the current generation of things, like DDR3 RAM and the AM3 socket (which is still more current than my old AM2 board)

It only makes me imagine how well it will run with a new GPU and SSD. I plan on doing liquid cooling too, for S&G, probably an XSPC kit. But this case has terrible liquid cooling support, as I'd have to cut into the 5.25 and remove the 3.5 as well. I've been looking at the Phantom full tower, which has everything I want: More than 4 5.25 bays, removable 3.5 inch bays, the ability to stick a 240 rad in bottom and a 360 up top, and full tower, not mid. It's definitely in my consideration list, even though I should finish my wooden case first

I bet!

I'm kinda stuck between the 7870, 650Ti Boost, or GTX 660. I really want to spring for a 7950, but I don't think I'll be able to do it. So far the 7870 seems to be the one to go with.

HOLY CRAP WHAT

Thank you very much for the link! I think I know what I'm getting!

My power supply might just have to wait. I'd rather get the card if it's at that low of a price and just let it sit around for a month or two.

The 7770 is only a bit better than my 9800, might as well save the $70 towards a 7950

I suppose so, I'm not getting any income any time soon so I don't know when I'll be able to upgrade yet :/

Nice upgrade, you'll enjoy it.

I went from a socket 939 (think circa 2004) motherboard with an x2 4200+ at stock speeds, 2gb DDR400 (yup, not even DDR2) and an AGP X1950pro 256mb to my current rig... It's really mind blowing and makes the wait worth it instead of minor updates.

Wow...

I've got a 939 socket board laying around here somewhere... I think it's an ASUS A8N-E. It's got a single core Athlon in it, don't remember what type. Yeah, definitely some old stuff lol

Yep, power supply was first on the list, because I need to change that to change anything else. I'm going to wait until I actually have money for the graphics card, may be a sale or something in the winter. The power supply I was looking at was this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817256058

My current Cooler Master power supply is kind of a cruddy thing, but it's not bad in the sense that it ran the old rig 24/7 for 2 weeks and 6 days at 100% load. I just need more efficiency, modular-ness, and power.

Well, found out today that my friend is giving me his ASUS 660 DirectCU II when the nVidia 800 series releases, which is expected in Q1 of 2014 I heard.

The only thing is the ASUS 660 cards aren't reference design, and there are no full cover blocks available ._.
