It would be cool if crossfire was decent.
Umm, doesn't crossfire scale better, at least in Vista? If you know the concept behind the two I think the way crossfire works is better imho.
Crossfire scales better than SLI, so your point about it being decent is invalid :S
OMG! WIF 4 RADIONS IN MY C()MPUT3R I WILL PWNZR J()() ALL IN CS:S! AND IT'S B3TT3R B/C IT COSTS A [email protected] TIMES M()R3 THAN J00R NUB SYSTEM! >:3

*ahem*

didn't nvidia's quad-SLI turn out to be a relative disappointment?
and what about cost-wise, for a 2.6x improvement using 3 cards (no mobos w/ 4 pcix 16x that i know of atm) i don't wanna spend 150% more on v-cards than the rest of the rig itself.

pardon if it's old info, i haven't been able to keep track of these new chipset developments lately

Do you have proof of that? Last I checked with XP, SLI provided better percentage gains in SLI. I was using MaximumPC data.

Hmm, most reviews I've read state that as far as percent of improvement when a second equal card is added crossfire is closer to double performance than sli in xp (though neither come too close, lol).

If you read the article you'd know that it's about a new chipset with four pci-e2.0 slots at 8x each, for said quad crossfire.

P.S. Sorry for the double post....

I think I read that sli was better in xp then crossfire, but the drivers for crossfire, compared to sli, was better in Vista.

It is FAR superior to SLI.... so really... think about it.

Incorrect Crossfire outperforms SLI by staggering numbers.

LOL @ ignorance
Shouldn't this be dubbed 'dual Crossfire'
Crossfire=2*card
Dual Crossfire=2*Crossfire=4cards.......

Where is the thread that shows 4 2600XTs in Crossfire? There was a motherboard with PCI-E 1.0 slots I believe....maybe this was mobo with this chipset.

quad crossfire would be great, but how exactly do you fit 4 dual slot coolers, and still have pci slots on a standard atx mobo

I'm pretty sure this will only end up in one of those 4X4 systems, I wouldn't be surprised if it was an EATX.

Yeah... Most likley not for the average user. Unless they put 2 gpu's on one board.

Quad X1300SE's!
Not too expensive, 4 X1950XT's! each at 179$, not bad since 2 X1950XT's compare well to an 8800GTX.

You know as long as the power consumption is low enough, that could be a potent combination on a PCI 2.0 motherboard. (two of these cards)

4 2600xt would own but think of the people with like 4 plus monitors this is prefect

You're correct. SLI performed better in XP, while Crossfire apparently did better in Vista.
