Well, before anything I suggest you reinstall, that consists of downloading 2 things (Drivers, Driver Removers).

1: Download Driver Cleaner Pro - http://drivercleaner.net
2: Download nVidia 81.98 Drivers - http://nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_81.98.html
3: Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Remove nVidia Drivers
4: Restart PC into safemode (F8 after bios screen and before windows xp load)
5: Run Driver Cleaner Pro (remove nVidia drivers)
6: Restart
7: Install nVidia 81.98 Drivers
8: Restart

See if that works.

help
I had and ran a Leadtek 6800GT up until a few days ago, just got new stuff. Anyway my card was kinda buggy every now and again. Like I would reboot my machine and then try to play a game and it would artifact and lockup. Sometimes I would have to reboot several times before it would be ok, then the games ran fine. I had read online somewhere that a bunch of the Leadtek 6800GT's had a batch of bad memory. Some folks reported cards that were dead right out of the box, like the first one I got. I had to RMA it and get another. Other folks had reported that their cards worked fine for a period then went downhill and eventually died. I certainly hope yours is not on its way out! If it is still under warranty you can always RMA it.

As far as if you can visually look at it and tell if its burnt or not, I don't think so. A physical defect might be beyond the naked eye's ability to see it. Unless you pull the heatsink and see a burnt spot on the GPU. But I doubt you'll find any visual evidence of errors.

Is the fan on the card running? Get a can of that compressed air and really blow it out, see if has alot of dust in there. I clean mine out about once a month. Maybe its just clogged with dust and overheating.
