Hello so I bought this cheap DBPower keyboard for around $20 and after plugging it in I went into the bios to install windows. I then tried to change the brightness on the keyboard then It then stopped working. When I rebooted same thing when when I touched the cable it was very hot. Does anyone know what caused this is it the bios or the keyboard.

The cable should not be hot. Assuming that no other devices have had issues in the same port, I'm guessing the cable has an issue with it and is causing the problem. Many cheap USB devices have woefully undersized conductors, and if there was any damage to them in manufacturing then you can get this type of problem.

Thank you for the help this has had me terrified to buy a $60 plus keyboard with the fear of it being fried.

Hopefully, if you are spending $60+ on a keyboard, it will have a detachable cable...
