[email protected] throttles to allow other programs to run, which is why I just leave it on even when gaming

I own both and can truthfully say that the AMD processors give a lot of bang for the buck, very cost effective. I can't compare them evenly though since I have i7 intel processors and Sempron and Athlon II AMD processors.

The AMD's get a workout in my HTPC and Server running multiple apps with ease, all power-saving controls enabled, and run cool and quiet.

na i tweaked my [email protected] to use 100% all the time, i leave it on while im gone, so it was all at load, it was definitely impacting my system, because the temp was slowly rising, other wise it would have stayed at the same temp as when i was just folding
by the way, how's your 945?
so glad i bought an amd for my first build, allowed me to by a nice graphics card

oh ya and 4.3 on air for $130?! who can complain about that?

cool, yeah i have a sempron sargas 140, 965, and a phenom x4 840 and there all overclocked and you are correct they are good bang for buck!
Got my dual core 550 for around £65, unlocked and clocked to 3.8ghz.... very happy with that.

Do you understand how [email protected] works?
Even if you set it to run 100% it still throttles down to run other stuff. Thats why you can open programs and do anything without windows locking up and dying.
My Client runs my CPU at 100% 24/7 but I can still play games and in on OCN right now. The only explanation is that [email protected] throttles back to give needed cycles to other programs. Also, its all over OCN and the [email protected] page that it releases clock cycles to other programs when they need them.

Im satisfied. But im hopping over to Intel in a month or 2.
I have my 720 X3 still in another build and I love it, great little gamer.

I've always found a special place for the Phenom II 940 CPUs. ^^ They always performed well and regardless of what you wanted, you could always find one for $100 and they ALL will hit 3.6GHz at 1.45v guaranteed.

The Phenom II 550 I have now is sitting nice and comfy at 3.8GHz and doesn't peak above 47*C under full load in any game.

I've had my fair share of AMD and Intel CPUs and I can say that I prefer AMD for their easy overclocking methods. Tinkering with the FSB has always yielded poor results for me.

I bought my 555BE for $90 and unlocked it to a $130 Quad Core, so I'm happy about that. In all my games, it has the same performance as my OC'd Xeon X3440.

However I don't like how I cannot read my temps anymore because of the unlock, so I don't OC it. Also I feel a bit of pain when I'm doing heavy multi-tasking, which I do often. But I had to downgrade for financial issues and since my games run just fine, I'm happy... for now.

I love mine. It's a perfect match for CFX 5870s.

This speaks for me.
Im glad with my:
X2 555 BE (unlocked) @ 4ghz
X6 1055T @ 3.8ghz
X6 1090T @ soon 4.4ghz

It is. And I usually build AMD. But im in need of a lot more power due to a pretty large increase in my workload and bulldozer isnt out yet.
Ill be getting the best I can on the market right now and slapping my 460, Mobo and 640 into a computer for a friend.
I've had an E8400, and a X3 720. AMD def feels faster and more responsive. Love it. I can be encoding a video, playing a game, surfing the web, and soooo many other things. No regrets. Waiting on bulldozer for my next build. Although I might go Sandy Bridge, well see.
I've done a lot of builds with K10 processors and have found them all to be great chips for the money. Once you get below the $200 price point AMD wins, at stock clocks, at every price point.
