Linux and Windows running together

Hey guys, i want to know how i can run windows and ubuntu together. I know this requirs me to emulate one of the OS but i dont know how to start. Im not sure how to get Vmware or if there are any better alternatives.

See the "Never dual boot again!" link in my sig if you want to run Linux in a virtual machine. Alternately you can dual boot.

If you have the HD space, then just dual-boot. Even better, use a separate hard drive for Linux.
aas above. you could install ubuntu within windows to try it out as well but that can be a bad idea...
i used to have linux with windows on a vmware (cause they both run faster than the other way around), until i finally stopped having to turn on the windows machine by replacing all the windows apps with linux equivalents.

I prefer VirtualBox to do this, it's a real amazing piece of software!
I wrote the guide using VirtualBox because it's free, and VMware Workstation isn't. I personally use VMware Workstation since it has more features, can do dual-core, and I already have a license for it.
