I have a Mercury S3 case that is holding two XT45 240mm rads, 150mm tube reservoir, and D5 pump mounted vertically with the res to the floor of the case. I have a Bitspower drain valve coming off of the D5 top which puts it close to the bottom of the loop.

I just ordered the S3 pedestal so I can move my radiators into it. The pump and res will remain in the main case.

My question is, where can I put the drain valve? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I understood that it should be at the lowest point in the loop to be most effective. But I'm not sure where in the pedestal I could put the drain valve that I could access. Once the pedestal is closed up, there's no easy way to get inside of it without taking the whole case apart. I'm not opposed to drilling a hole into the floor for a drain port, but would rather not if possible.

I could also leave the drain valve in the upper portion of the case, but it then probably wouldn't drain any water below it (all the water in the rads). Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks.

Well after further research it appears CaseLabs has already figured this one out for me. The S3 pedestal has a drop out bottom panel with tubing holes built in. Guess I can access my drain valve down there after all.

They really should have a picture of the bottom panel on their website.

I have the extended pedestal for the TH10. I opened up one of the holes in the bottom and fitted a bulkhead fitting with a 90º fitting on either side. This outlet connects to a ball valve on a T fitting on the bottom port of one of the rads inside the pedestal and I have a length of tubing with a ball valve I can swing out on the 90º underneath the pedestal when I need to drain.

I had to use a step drill to open up the hole slightly in the pedestal base to accept a bulkhead fitting.

That's a good idea. I'm thinking of just keeping my ball-valve inside the pedestal and accessing it by removing the bottom panel. But your way sounds a lot more slick.
