I am looking for a decent wireless gaming mouse. I have loved my deathadder for a long time now, but I am looking for something without a cord. The Logitech G700 was recommended to me by several forums.

Is this the best wireless gaming mouse I can get right now? I have heard about some serious issues with the Mamba and the X8, so idk.

What do you guys think?

here are some important criterions that will tell u if a mouse is good or not.

shape/grip: it should be comfortable, at least.

side buttons: your choice

weight: lower is better. under 85 is excellent, under 95g is good. Everything over is what I call a brick mouse.

perfect control speed: higher is better. no less than 2m/s. Yes, that means no WMOs.

lift off distance: lower is better. less than 2 CD is good.

correction/prediction: a little bit isn't the end of the world. it's up to you.

acceleration: none is better. accel in ur games is up to you, but accel from ur mouse is bad bad bad.

cpi: should have a setting around 800-1000cpi. Around ~500CPI might make you uncomfortable. On the other hand you get no benefit from more cpi. There's a formula quoted below that explains this.

polling rate: not very important, but preferably support for 500Hz, with HIDUSBF if necessary.

wired/wireless: you won't find a wireless mouse that meets the above measurements.

that's it. Now have a look at THE STICKY and go crazy

Here's the formula that lets you know how much cpi will actually be useful to you.

Example #1 with Quake Live settings.

In-game resolution width in pixels = 800
number if inches per 360 degree in-game turn = 10
in-game field of view = 120

so,

800*pi / (10*tan(120/2)) = 146 cpi required. The wmo has 400, so I'm ok.

Example #2 with Crysis Wars settings.

In-game resolution width in pixels = 1920
number if inches per 360 degree in-game turn = 20
in-game field of view = 60

(1920*pi) / (20*tan(30)) = 523 cpi required, so 400 is not enough for perfect pixel accuracy. My options are to increase cpi, lower resolution, increase field of view or lower in-game sensitivity.

None of these values approach anything near the ridiculous cpi values advertised on today's crappy mice. That's right. high cpi is just a gimmick!

I am proud owner of G700.. Honestly I have no idea how G700's battery life, because I didn't use wireless. I purchased G700 for as default wired, & use program macros keys for FPS. thats it.

1) Can make it a a wired mouse without battery.
2) Can customize program macros or single key for FPS or others.
3) Can use an alternative Micro USB cable for charger or a wired since it uses a standard micro USB connection.
4) The Dual-mode Scroll switch on the G700: freewheel or click-round.
5) Can store 5 different profiles in the mouses on-board memory.

Since your using the DA, the Mamba might make you feel right at home with minimal time to adjust. The only issue with the mouse is the high LOD so if you lift your mouse while gaming then its not for you.

In regards to the wireless latency on the Mamba, its 1:1 in corded.. I've made a very conclusive but small scale test ( less than 100 people ) In the LAN parties I attended ( and competitions ) I've always asked those who use the DA to perform this test first then the rest of the ppl interested. I setup the Mamba wirelessly, have them test it around and about 40% say there is a very miniscule input latency, next I connect the Mamba's USB cable ( I have 2 cables for the mamba) and everyone said that wired mode really feels better and the difference is "huge" in terms of feel.. then I reveal to everyone that the USB connector was just hanging at the back and they were still using the mouse in wireless mode, I believe its some form of muscle memory on the cable drag.. I dunno. I dont play FPS in a world cybergames competitive level but I dont feel any lag.

The G700 might be different but I can perform the same test soon.

Hey, do you notice any positive acceleration on the G700 ? Still waiting for mine to arrive from mail.

It is the best wireless gaming mouse to date. However, I use it most of the time wired. It's anyway one of the best mouses you can buy, I paid it 80€ and I find it totally worth every cent.

I pay a lot of attention to micro-lag, microstuttering and unconstant fps because this stuff bothers me quit a bit, however I can't detect ANY type of lag when I game with my G700 in wireless mode, even with a 500hz refresh rate instead of the recommended 1000hz. You only need to keep the USB thing near the mouse and you're done.

I am liking mine, although I do think it depends on the price you have to pay to pick one of these up. I paid $70 when I bought it several months ago, so I feel pretty content. I didn't think that the wireless mode would be too useful for me, but I ended up bringing it out along with me to use on my laptop to do work. I hate the touch pad so being able to disable it for typing is amazing for me.

In terms of comfort and feel, I think that it is similar to all the other Logitech mice I have owned (MX510/518/G5/G500) and the grip style fits me. There are tons of macro buttons on the mouse with seemingly infinite setups. I don't play a myriad of MMO so the extra presets are moot for me. There's also the ability to swap between smooth and clicky scroll for the mouse wheel. Lots of people prefer the smooth scrolling, but I personally like the clicky one more.

Tracking is good, I haven't found any problems tracking on any surface yet with or without a cloth mousing surface, like the QCK+. I have a wooden desk that I work on and occasionally I just use the mouse on it when my QCK+ is drying. It works fine for me in SC2, no problems with clicking accuracy or responsiveness.

If you absolutely need a wireless gaming mouse, I definitely think it is worth looking into. Logitech customer service has always been pretty good. I'm not too sure about the QC on these mice though. My first one that I bought, the left mouse button started randomly registering double clicks and nothing I did seemed to fix it so I brought it in to the store and they swapped it for me. With this second (current) mouse, I've noticed that the battery life seems to be a bit better.

Oh, another minor complaint I have is that the wiring for charging//wired mode is kinda annoying. I'm not a big fan of the way it bends, so usually I will try to game in wireless mode, leaving wired for charging/web browsing.

Nice post. Thanks. I have two questions if you dont mind:

-How is the cord (especially the part where it attaches to the mouse)? Is it very stiff and hard to move? I heard complaints about this?

-Can you recreate the "small movement" problem that so many people claim to have with this mouse.

It's hard to determine whether this problem exists in all units.

Yes the cord is stiff and yes I have noticed the small movement problem as well. I previously had a G9x which has the same sensor and never noticed the same problem.

I've read over the thread on logitech's site and it clearly shows that the issue is not yet resolved, this is probably software based as other mices that use the same sensor dont have such issues and also has logitech issued any firmware update on the mouse so far?

I would like to add that my friend got his G700 and it has this issue, when mine arrives from the mail il surely report it here it I experience the same issue.

Thanks a lot for the reply. Please let us know whether you also have the issue. As long as Logitech hasnt fixed this, it's kind of a dealbreaker.

I just got my mouse today from my friend who had it shipped overseas and I say its VERY comfortable for my grip style even if I prefer a mouse with the G9 size, what I noticed first is that the pressure required to click is a tad bit more compared to the G9, roughly maybe 10% more..

I like the good weight on the mouse but it glides so horrible on my goliathus control edition, I guess its about time to order the Puretrack talent!

Also the cable is not even remotely stiff at all, maybe they started to ship a more flexible cable?

I dunno if this is a defect or an intentional design but if i press the G5 and G4 buttons very very lightly you can feel the tactile feedback but the commands dont register.. either both buttons are defective OR its a part of the design to probably avoid mis clicks?

Yes, But it can only be replicated in non real world mouse usage.. by really poking the mouse with a single finger very very slowly.. if im gripping the mouse the smallest movement is tracked

EDIT:

Doing the same test again on my desk or on a sheet of paper it tracks the movement, the only time it does not track it is on my cloth based pad.. so its kinda like a strange issye.

What cloth pad are you using? I haven't experienced the small movement problem regardless of using it on my qck or on my wooden desk, either in wired or wireless mode.
