Hey Guys

I have a pair of logitech x-530 5.1 speakers, but i cannot seem to get the full 5.1 sound.

Ive tried setting my speakers to 5.1 and also even more but only sound comes out of 2 of them and the sub. 2 being right and left as 2.1 speakers are, no right back, no left back and no front centre.

help?

If you're listening to music, most music is stereo so that is how it's supposed to play, some soundcards and/or speakers can allow you to make stereo play through 4 or all 5 of your speakers but there isn't much point to it, just leave it alone. Now if movies and games still aren't using 5.1 then you've got a problem, check your sound card settings and be sure they're set to 5.1 also.

for all the speakers to work while listening to music...open the creative control panel and set the speakers to 5.1 then set cmss to stereo surround. When playing games set cmss to "cmss" or "cmss2".

Yeah that's basically what you do. Only there's no need to change it to cmss or cmss2 for games since games are 5.1 and don't use stereo upmixing.

I have exactly the same problem, the x530 not working properly. The thing is I did everything as it's written in the manual, but it simply doesn't work. The best I could get is 2.1. I don't have ADI soundmax codec on my mobo, i have the realtek.

And make sure your set to 5.1 in your control panel > audio devices > Advance

EDIT: oh yea if your onboard or non onboard sound card doesn't support 5 1 then !

sorry i've never been on vista yet, well the beta, but my bets is that because vista isnt complete and its just the trial i they might not support 5.1, i may be wrong though, i guess you will have to wait for software to activate it, software for vista x64!

EDIT: ok i've been looking at your cards drivers and non of them seem to be for vista , i am unsure if you need these drivers to activate/unlock 5.1, can anyone clarify?!

I got 5.1 working on my copy of vista by installing the beta drivers from creative and then changing the speaker mode in the windows audio settings.
