my friend wants to buy my old speakers for $60 and then I would buy the 5300s for $135 on Amazon. Is it worth it? I would be paying $75 out of pocket which is pretty cheap.

Ah god, I love my 5300e's.

They have awesome bass and decent mid and highs. Definatly worth the money if you ask me.

They are amazing. My friend has them (I have the 2.1 version) and they sound great. Amazing bass, great mids, and supprisely good highs. They have a nice wired remote, and can get LOUD. We always watch movies at his house because of this speakers and monitor (Widescreen Samsung Syncmaster).

Plus, your friend gets happier too, because he gets better speakers and you get better speakers as well. For me, Visual and Audio performance is much more important than FPS. For example, I'd take a $200 sound card and a $200 processor over a $400 processor; just like I did. I could have kept onboard and gotten a Quad Core. But...

Audio Quality > FPS and SuperPi Times.

I got them last week and they are booming. It's like have a 5.1 digital reciever in your room with out the reciever. THX sound, EAX HD, all that you need. Playing GTA San Andreas sounds wicked, F.E.A.R is even better! No complains here.
