Logitech Z-5500 Dimensions?

Hi there. Just a very quick favour I need to ask of any Z-5500 owners. I need to know the exact height of the control pod in centimeters. I've ordered myself this sound system as a welcome gift to my new flat (an extension on my parents house) and I've got my TV stand and everything ready for it to be delivered. I'm just planning where each speaker/component will go.

Also, do the speakers come with the bolts/screws to wall mount them with? or do you have to buy them separately?

Thanks in advance!

control pod
Height 8 1/2 inch= 215.9 mm
width 1 3/4 inch= 25.4 mm
4 inches in length = 101.6 mm

I would get better speaker wire as well. The wire that is comes with is 18gauge.
I am using 12 gauge wire on mine. I think you have to buy screws for them

I did not like the mounts so I used omni mounts. I used these cause I have more control for the angle of the speaker where I wanted it to be at
here is the link to the ones I used

Thanks Juggalo for those measurements
I only have an 8" gap on my TV stand to place the control pod. So it seems like I'll have to put it next to my TV instead unless I can bend the pod to slant backwards slightly but I'm not sure if you can! I won't be wall mounting these speakers. Atleast not in this room. But I do want to secure them to the CD stands either side of the TV just to ensure they dont fall off!

yeah!
I've been waiting for them to be dispatched since mid-february because amazon were waiting for their supply. Can't wait!

Up to now I've been using a flimsy 2.1 50w Setup from wall-mart in my old room. So you can imagine the sort of improvement I'm going to have
I toyed with the idea of using my altec lansing 5.1 from my PC but I don't want to compromise my PC setup.. so I bought these!! =)

They'll be connected via optical to my PS3 and RCA-3.5mm to my TV (since there's only 1 optical out). I may also connect them to my sound card to play my music library if the cables will reach!

The one thing I just cant wait to experience is dolby 5.1 blu-ray on my HDTV with these speakers. I've never had a true dolby surround setup before. I'll post back when I get them later this week and maybe do a youtube video when the new room cinema setup is done!

rather than start a new thread, I may aswell ask this question here. Can you use two sets of speakers on one sound card? and can you configure them both individually? As I said before I already have my altec lansing 5.1 on my PC connected via coaxial to my control hub but I may aswell also connect my z-5500 directly to the sound card to play things like music directly from my pc. Is this possible? I wouldnt have both speakers on at the same time obviously..

thanks in advance.
Well, my Z-5500's arrived friday morning 7AM sharp and I've spent all weekend moving into my new annex (extension on my parents house) I have my new cinema setup and ikea lounge chair with my 5.1 system perfectly configurated to my seating position. All wired up digitally to my PC and PS3. With the frankly gigantic subwoofer hidden tidily behind my HDTV far enough away to not cause any damage to nearby electricals (even at 1/3 bass output my neighbour thought I was having a party..

I have to say I am somewhat surprised how simple the z-5500 was to setup out of the box. I've watched so many video reviews and unboxing videos that I literally knew the system inside and out when I finally had it in my hands. But its all so well designed that it doesnt have the usual 'brain-storming fiddly setup' that high range systems of any media usually require. The clarity, given the right input, is staggering. Dolby really is given so much to work with in this system. All the channels, especially in games on the PS3, are perfectly balanced in Dolby Pro Logic II Movie Mode. The 96khz audio input is also a great bonus as the audio is quite clearly non-compressed and given the right acoustics sounds almost as if it's not coming out of speakers in the first place. Very happy with these speakers. So glad I decided to get them over the G51 fake-surround speakers. More than worth the price jump =)

Just an FYI, the Z-5500 sub won't damage anything sensitive to magnets, as it is shielded enough to not cause problems. I leave my phone and external hard drive among other things on it sometimes and it's never damaged any of them.

Hope you're enjoying them!

yeah, i'm pretty sure the risk is low yet I have the sub hidden tidily behind my TV away from other appliances so I havent had to compromise anything to keep it at a distance. But I probably would have if i needed to, just to be safe. Since the note "keep away from aircraft's compass system during export" on the outer box got me worried lol!!

I really am enjoying them. I'm putting to use both the 6-channel, coax, optical and even the MP3 socket with these speakers and I'm a fussy one when it comes to sound quality. but i cant wipe the smile off my face when I sit down and watch a blu-ray on these babies

Yeah I just wish the satellite speakers were better quality and could produce lower frequencies. The sub's crossover is at 200Hz, WAY too high. It should be around 85Hz or lower to avoid voices and other sounds from coming out of the sub.

But for the low price of the Z-5500's...guess i can't complain.
I agree that the sub's crossover is way to high, hearing the Emperor from Oblivion talking out of my sub kinda freaked me out the first time. Being the cheap scavenger that I am though I manged to snag an old receiver and equalizer for free to use with these speakers. Replaced the fronts with some old Sony's from the garage, hook the equalizer up to the pre-out on the receiver and then to the sub and with the right settings it sounds even better than when I first got them. So if you manage to find a cheap 5.1 receiver and some speakers you'll be in for an even better sonic experience.
