Hey all,

Intro:
For the last 10 months or so i have been working on a project known as PhantomLED. You can check out the worklog HERE. Basically i want to have a really nice logo/icon made for it. unfortunately i don't have the skills to be able to do this myself so i've decided to make a little competition.

I am wanting to use this logo for the program that will be 'bundled' with the hardware and for other uses.

Details (what im looking for):

Basicly i am looking for something that depicts a Phantom. but be creative, do whatever you think is best.

Rules:

By posting a image in this thread you agree, if it is chosen as the winning image, to allow me to use it indefinitely in exchange for the prize detailed below.

This Competition entries will be open only for 2 4 days (From this post). After these 2 4 days are up you will have a further 4 days (6 8 days from this post) to post your final image. only one image will be accepted per person, if multiple images are posted by a single person the last one posted will be selected.

You must have at least 40 posts and 5 Reps when the winning image is selected otherwise it will be ignored.

The prize:

50% off the retail price of a Full PhantomLED package. (Excluding Shipping, shipping costs will be determined from HERE)(you may downgrade if you wish).

This will include:
  • Mainboard with all addons (Major fan controller)
  • 1x Phantom Shield (the 5.25" bay adapter)
  • 8x LEDLeads with 4 RGB LEDs on each lead
  • LCD screen with Button controller
  • 4x Temperature probes
  • Software (may be still in Beta)
I am not sure when the hardware will be released but i am hoping for sometime around Christmas.

So let it begin!Mods if you find this post to be in the wrong spot please move
it to the correct place, i couldn't really find a suitable forum

What size do you need the logo to be?

Do you intend to create a physical label, or will it be for software only?

This. More info please.
I may enter something, but I'm not amazing at photoshop

Do you want an Icon for a PC? I.e a 32x32 or better still a Scalable Vector Graphic (very important for OS past Vista)

from what Du-z tells me over MSN - he wants a logo for the software.
so like in the taskbar when its open (W7), the little pic in the top left hand corner of the window etc
yeah anything for a icon's i dont know much about formats, but a SVG would be great. Also if it could be converted into a banner for the website that would be great.

Also if it is a two tone logo i might be able to tranfer it over to the PCB.

it will also be used in User guides ect
Heres my entry, best I can manage with my rudimentary photoshop skills. Have included it in the most common icon sizes. I could put together a banner if you like also. The ghoul is just a simple line drawing, so could be printed onto the PCB.

148x148

64x64

48x48

32x32

16x16 (for systray/taskbar icon)

If you want the icons in ico form too, let me know.

nice one, it could be printed onto the PCB that's for sure.

Edit: it would need to have a white back ground and black lines though. (256 colour)
come on guys only a few hours left to 'register'
I'm liking these odds

Maybe consider extending it by a few days, Or make the prize a little more attractive

This is what I'm thinking of, just need to take the concept and make some icon goodness out of it. I'll make a black on white one as well for PCB printing optionality.

Black on White:

More to come....
^^
Has arrived.
Icon goodness -

For a better look at what it will look like smaller...

if im understanding this correctly, you are giving a discount on the item and not actually providing it as payment??

Yup, but even if you don't take it up, the possibility of it being on a retail product is pretty cool.

Du-Z - would it be possible to provide one of the faulty rev1.0 boards as a freebie (other than postage of course). I personally wouldn't need leds, but the fan control would interest me, then offer the phatomshield as an optional extra?

yeah i can do whatever mate. i'm flexible.
you needent make icons I can convert the full images to icons for the software
you might want to make your logo entries in square image even if the content isnt square

decent res png images are usually best

if thats the case, you get what you pay for, good luck

Personally i feel that if someone is providing you something for branding, then you should provide it for FREE. Even if it costs you a little, because stuff like this i hate doing because it gives a bad name to graphic designers. You probaly wont find anything better, go with garionberg, it would be your best bet.
