Christmas time is here and I'm going to be giving the sig rig a major overhaul. That said one of the few things I'm still looking for is a cooler for my cpu. I've been looking at Zalman (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-054-_-Product and http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...S10X%20Extreme) but I'm sure there is better out there. So yeah OCN, hit me with what you got!

If you have money to spend the Noctua D-14,Thermalright IFX-14 and Prolimatech Megahalems are top of the class, but they are expensive.

The Xigmatek Dark Knight and Mugen II are great coolers on a budget
I'm a big fan of the CNPS family of coolers, great bang/buck IMHO
Welcome to OCN. Click the 1st link in my sig, it has all the most frequently suggested air cooling items here on OCN along with a ton of other useful info. Give it a good read.

Another cooler that I am under review for adding to my list is the Noctua D14 so look out for that as well if you can find it.

P.S. Zalman coolers are very sub par for cooling quads from what I understand from most users. Especially for the i7. Always see people complaining about stock temps with their Zalman coolers and needing to upgrade.
Zalman coolers CAN NOT handle the high thermal output of i7 processors. I wouldn't expect temps much better than stock with those 2 coolers you listed.

If you want the best, get a Prolimatech Megahalems or Mega Shadow. If you want something great on a budget, go for a Dark Knight or Mugen 2.
Thanks for the info guys! I'm really liking the Prolimatech Megahalem so far. But one question I have is that why don't they come with fans? Looking at some of them I know they would be too big. But adding a fan would give better temps would it not?

They don't include a fan because they know most of their customers are enthusiasts that would add their own fan anyway. DO NOT run the cooler without a fan, temps will not be very desirable. Here is a link to one of the best fans on newegg.

OCZ Freeze has been my favorite for a while, but I hear IC7 is amazing.
