Hi all.
I currently have a Gigabyte P31DSL3 motherboard. which has a P31 Intel chipset. otherwise my specs are
Intel Core 2 Duo E6750
Nvidia Geforce 285GTX
4GB off DDR 800mhz pyn RAM
5HDDs (2 IDEs, 3 SATAs)
Sata DVD burner

I am looking for a N-vidia chipset motherboard for that configuration.

thanks in advance

Evga 750i FTW?
hmmm a very nice motherboard. but a little to pricy atm. SLI isn't needed. it is more of a get by motherboard as well as an upgrade (current motherboard slowly dying)
evga 750i?

really, the 750i sli ftw is probably the best mobo you can get for the job.

May I ask why you desire a NVIDIA motherboard if you're not going to SLI? A Gigabyte EP45-UD3P would be an awesome choice, overall. You're going to find most, if not all, NVIDIA chipset boards are pricey!

fair enough. i was mainly looking for a motherboard to go with the GTX 285. so i thought a N-Vidia chipset would b good. just wondering. are the 650i chipsets a good motherboard. because i found a few of them.

no the 650i doesn't even come close to the 750i sli ftw, plus the 6series i just old technology anyways. get a eVGA 750i SLI FTW because its has 100% solid capacitors allowing for higher overclocking, than lets say the normal evga 750i or xfx version or asus too i believe. Its a great board i ordered one two weeks ago but it arrived with a really bad bent pin so i had to send it back unfortunately. also once you get the board make sure you do the vdroop pencil mod as well and then you know grab another gtx285

You absolutely don't need a NVIDIA chipset for a single GTX 285. If it's just temporary, I really don't see the need for it. The only advantage to an NVIDIA chipset is SLI, really.

If you don't need SLI the Gigabyte EP45 UD3R is a very good choice. You could also go with the UD3P and use the second PCI-e slot on that one for a Pshyx card or something.

Nvidia chipsets tend to not be as nice as just intel chipsets for overclocking. So unless you want SLI, just get a nice P45 board such as the suggested Gigabyte ones, you can also check out the DFK DK P45 T2R something something...

hi again all
I ended up getting a Gigabyte EP45-UD3P

thanks again for all the advice
Nvida=SLI. Go to Intel Motherbords there a few threads on several 750i MB. They are good threads for OCing and give the breakdowns on differ brands of the MB with
limits of each. I do enjoy my Asus P5N-D. I have upgrad my 2x XFX8600gt to
single Evga 9800gtx+ I had just got for my birthday, But Wife has limits(great cook-
thats a keeper too)lol
