Hello fellow OCN users! I don't really follow the phone markets at all, but now that my old galaxy S2 is starting to retire slowly i'm looking for a new phone from the price range of 200-300€. budget is very flexible, but i don't want to pay for brand or bragging rights you know (so no apple or samsung mostly...).

I need:
Android OS, with support for updates
Fast response while browsing internet
Support for multitasking
Standard size, not too big or too small
Good screen is also a plus

I mostly use my phone for music listening, browsing the web on multiple tabs, watching youtube and using social media apps.
I also dont need fancy stuff like glass screens or aluminium casing, but ofc, they are a plus

I was looking at the LG optimus G e975, and my friend who follows phone releases told he thinks its the best bang for buck atm. Should i trust him in this?

Thanks!

Why not just get a Nexus device? If you are worried about support for updates, no better phone to get. Not to mention there are a lot of pluses to the phone. The only draw back I have heard about the Nexus 5 is that only has a "decent" battery life. That all depends on the user though.

If you are paying full price, Nexus 5 is probably the best choice.
For battery life, LG G Flex has the biggest battery in terms of capacity. But I personally have reservation regarding the curved nature of the phone

I love the way the HTC One looks and the build quality is unmatched. the HTC sense is very close to stock android and is very pleasant to use.
the old one does not have micro sd expansion though, but the new one does have.

um i would say dont get another samsung device! stupid touch whiz...

oh and the HTC phone has freeaking awesome speakers, my brother uses an HTC desire (the lower end phone with a lesser screen and plastic body, but with a removable battery and sd card expansion) and the speakers on that thing makes my 4s sound really crappy..

ummm the moto x is nice because you can get a phone that you like, the nexus phones are really nice as well!

Yeah the thing is i want as stock android as possible, also I've had bad experiences with HTC but that was way back like 3 years ago, idk if things have changed. I could consider HTC one an option, but atm Nexus 5 seems like the no.1 for me
Yeah I'm not touching samsung again

Does the IPS panel on phones make a huge difference? I would like to have a good quality screen since i consume a lot of media on my phone

the screen on an ips phone is really bright and has very good colors

my 4s has a higher pixel density and resloution than my brother's and a smaller screen, butman his phones screen just looks better!

yeah the htc phone is pretty much stock android.

but the "boom sound" may seem gimmicky, but having speakers that face the right way, makes a world of difference. and thisd makes me wonder why arent all phones like this?!

ohh by the way go on youtube, and look up MKBHD or Marques Brownlee (same channel), in my opinion he has the best phone reviews. Period.

HTC One is the best mobile media consuming device ever considering the FHD screen and the front facing speakers

Im gonna get the G2 the 31st as a graduation gift from my parents! I was looking to root it, to gain full control of the phone, but then i heard there is some software that detects rooting and might void warranty, is this true? Also, what are some "must do" things after rooting, should i undervolt a bit to get better battery life?
