I'm looking for a laptop that is in the ultraportable category as I will be carrying it around a lot. Ideally it wouldn't have smaller then a 11" screen. I also want it to be fast: (i7, 8gb+ ram, relatively good graphics card, SSD, nice resolution). I won't be using it for gaming to much, but would like it to be responsive. I used to have a macbook air, so something around that size would be nice.

What's a good laptop running Windows OS that would fit some of these specs? Thanks OCN!

Gonna pitch in my 2 cents and say the Samsung Series 9. Sleek looking and has a 15 inch screen. Assuming the 800 - almost 2000 price is ok, it is a sweet looking computer.

A laptop with a powerful CPU and graphics is good enough because you can buy and install the ssd and ram yourself. A laptop that normally comes with the ssd and ram are normally cheap and slow

If you want to keep the internal DVD drive though, look for mSATA support. Usually for laptops that you can customize, if it gives you the option to upgrade the SDD without replacing the HDD or DVD, then it has mSATA support or a separate 2.5" drive (very rare for ultrabooks, and rare for 15" laptops)

DVD drive doesn't matter to much for me. Price can be up a bit over 2k+. Thanks for the recommendations so far. I'm going to check them out!

The series 9 is pretty sweet. 15 inch screen, 1.7 ghz i5 and a 120 gb ssd for $1399.99

And its stronger brother, 1.9 ghz i7 and a 256 gb ssd for $1699.99

Both of them are only working with the Intel HD 4000 series GPU so it wont be a gaming powerhouse, but for most other tasks it should do really well. Both are just over 3.5 pounds, so ultra portable they are. Windows 8, but with Classic Shell for a win 7 clone or even Pokki (http://www.pokki.com/windows-8-start-menu) for a different experience of a start menu, that can be changed fairly easily. And apparently the touch pad is amazing, almost like a mac quality one. Ive never been bothered by touch pads so i really cant comment on that, but the store display model was still really nice. Best of luck choosing!
