Its been 4-5 years since I brought my NEC Multisync 20WGX2, and I think its just time for an upgrade.

I've been looking for some possible replacements and I've seen some models, but not many have subject-able reviews.

Here are some monitors that I've taken an interest to:

HP ZR24w (Alot of people like this, except for the brightness)

Dell UltraSharp U2410 (Alot of people like this as well, but this is just within my budget limit)

ViewSonic VP2365WB (I haven't taken any close looks at Viewsonic in the past, and I don't know if I should start)

NEC EA231WMi-BK (Its NEC, and its a good value eIPS panel monitor)

LG E2370V (Very intriguing, featuring IPS and LED backlight together. Its a new release that doesn't have the Display Port feature and LG isn't really known for quality-- )

NEC LCD24WMGX3 (It was the newer model to my old NEC 20WGX2, but it hasn't been released in the US..)

If you guys could help narrow this list down, it will be much appreciated, as well as introducing some other models as well.

I game most of the time, but any reasonable response times from 15ms or lower will work just fine. I heard some Dells have backlight bleeding, which makes me hesitant to shell out 500-600 dollars on the Dell U2410.

So I have no experience with any of them nor the luxury of even using an IPS / PVA / I-PVA monitor but having said all that I can tell you that the Dell U2410's are in high regard, not just here on OCN, but everywhere.

My vote to the U2410. Monitors are something you don't normally change often, and you don't want to buy something and have it suck. So, spend near the top of your budget and don't look back.

The U3011 I've used was amazing color quality, and I expect no less for its younger brother.

If you're looking for a gaming monitor then an ips panel might not be as good as an 120hz monitor.

You say LG is not knows for quality but las ti check Dells IPS are LG i think. Get the Dell UltraSharp U2410.

The U2410 gets my vote as well...It is the best monitor I have ever had hands down...You won't be disappointed with it...I had zero buyers remorse once I got it.

the HP ZR24W..the U2410 just isn't worth it for the price..it is an overpriced IPS.

LG isn't good quality? Then don't buy an IPS monitor. Almost all of the best IPS monitors have panels made by LG...

Seems like a lot of people are suggesting the dell monitor. I might pick one of those up since I'm in the market for one. Where would the cheapest place be to order one?

The LG monitors are not of good quality, from what I heard (extreme brightness, blacklight bleeding, etc).

And the new LG E2370V doesn't even have a display port

I guess I will save up for the Dell U2410. (I'm probably going to order it from the Dell website~with the 3 year warranty)
The only alternative I can find is the HP ZR24W.

I'm looking at the cheaper Dell U2311h. I heard it has some backlight bleeding problems, but how does that compare with the HP ZR24W?

Only problem with the Dell U2410 is the slower response time, I heard it was 30ms. There is a game mode as well and I wondering if that cuts down maybe 5-10 ms for gaming? Can any1 vouch for the Dell U2410 for gaming? hehe.

E-IPS is faster than the S-IPS right?

Although picture quality, colors, and viewing angles would have to be a true IPS (S, H, etc)? Haven't been in the monitor game for awhile now.

I asked my tech friend, and he said just to go with a TN panel...
He told me my monitor is still one of the best for IPS gaming monitors. Nothing has changed in 4 years? Really had my eyes set on the NEC LCD24WMGX3 last year, but they don't have it in North America.

If it's just for gaming, an e-IPS panel will do just fine. The main difference between the U2410 and the U2311H are the extra res (1200p vs 1080p) and the wider color gamut (useless for gaming). U2311H is native sRGB and comes better calibrated for it out of the box. Plus it has lower input lag, even with the U2410 in gamer mode.

I'd go for the U2311H if I were you. It's half the price of the U2410 and considered one of the best sRGB monitors on the market.

1920*1080 (16:9) is the best alternative for gaming. With 16:10 you loose FOV.

U2311 is a fine monitor. The blacks and contrast is better on U2311 than ZR24W also.

Thanks for the Info JB, Booty. I have heard that is is prominent backlight bleeding in the U2311H as well as blueish-purple and orange tints on the monitor while its on a black screen as you move and look at the monitor are different angles.

I not trying to be nit-picky, and I heard there is a revision on this model. Does the new model have the same problems.

Would this be suitable? LED, IPS, 120HZ (interpolated..).

Doesn't look like it comes with a Display Port :-/

Great find. Have never heard of that monitor before but it sounds definitely like something worth waiting for. Must be a totally new panel from LG cause all 27 inch 16:9 monitors out there are 2560*1440.

LED, 120hz, AND IPS?!

I wonder how this monitor is. Amazon states it not released yet at just a tad bit over $400. I really want to see how well this monitor does. I might have to be the test subject once it comes out.
