Explanations

Grip
Grip style or grip type is the manner with which you hold your mouse. There are three main styles:
  • Claw grip
    claw_grip.jpg

  • Fingertip grip
    fingertip_grip.jpg

  • Palm grip
    palm_grip.jpg
The grip type allows to choose the shape and weight of the mouse.
Example: fingertip grippers will most likely want small and lightweight mouses.

More info: Razer.

Sensitivity
Sensitivity represents how fast the mouse cursor moves in relation to the mouse physical movement. For FPS games, sensitivity is commonly defined by distance/360°. Or, more generally, it's defined by low, mid or high (please refer to the link below if you're not sure).
Example: 50cm/360° (to make a full 360° turn, it's needed to move the mouse by 50cm). That's an example of a low sensitivity.

The sensitivity allows to choose the dpi of the mouse and, most importantly, it defines the top speed needed.
Example: low sensitivity players very often hit high speeds; thus, they need a mouse that can support those high speeds without any kind of acceleration or malfunction.

More info: ESR.

Prediction
Prediction (aka Angle Snapping, Drift Control, Correction) helps you to draw straight lines: the mouse tracking corrects (removes) the minor deviations from your line, making it as straight as possible, up to certain threshold, which varies from mouse to mouse (some mouse has more prediction than others). Ideally, a mouse should have the option to turn off the prediction, but there are plenty of mice with inherent prediction that can't be turned off.

needs a "commonly-recommended mice and mousepads" section imo, just so readers have a general idea on what to look for.

I'm actually looking for a mouse, so I'll take a stab at it.

1. What's your grip style? Fingertip in FPS, probably palm in slower games.

2. What's your sensitivity? I want 1500-1800 minimum with an adjustment up to 3500 at least

3. What's your maximum budget? $75

4. Do you want additional buttons? left, right, two thumbs, and a scroll wheel is all I really need

5. What games do you play? Skyrim, various BF games, some other shooters

6. Do you mind about prediction? rather not have it

7. Other relevant information:

Not heavy, drivers are fine as long as they're simple.

I tried one at a store, but it's just a little too small. I have fairly large hands.

Did you have the smooth backplate on it? I know there is a rough textured one that I do not like at all, the smooth one is wider and feels better to me.

From what I see, my requirement in a mouse are really similar to yours. I ended up buying a Deathadder Black Edition and it is perfect for me. Note that I have really large hands, and that I am using it driverless.

6. Do you mind about prediction?
If the mouse can go where I want it to go before my brain can signal my hand to do it and improve my gameplay.. sure give me more mouse prediction?

7. Other relevant information:
Wireless... Cords annoy the **** out of me, and tech should be good enough today where the delay between cord and wireless is non-existant??
I hate my wireless mouse/keyboard randomly disconnects......
Also Ill take anything that improves gameplay.

If you're looking for a mousepd too, please try to answer the following questions:

Prediction actually straighten your mouse movement to make them look more like a straight line.

There arent many wireless mouses around. You should take a look at the logitech g700, the cyborg R.A.T. 9 , the logitech performance MX or the razer mamba. I would personally chose the g700.
