Low FPS in company of heroes

ok, i just bought the THQ complete pack over steam which included company of heroes. I just started playing and i had the settings at max, which my sig should be able to do, and i was getting a max of 8 fps and avg of 5. So ok, i turned them down, no change, so now they are on low and im still only getting about 5fps. I am not folding, and there is nothing running in the background. Any ideas? This is really pissing me off, because i also had a problem installing it which took me about an hour to fix.

yes, i have the latest drivers. U think i should clean them out then install again?

Edit:I had the latest drivers as of yesterday. Apperently the new nvidia drivers were released today. Unfortunately, their download server is currently down. Just a side question, do you have to clean out the drivers every time u update them? even if you are not moving from ati to nvidia or vice versa?

bump. Still getting horrible frame rates. Even on minimum settings i get a max of about 22 and average of about 12. Latest drivers and everything.
Just an update, the game also crashes a lot and for some odd reason, sometimes the framerate actually will go up when there are a lot of units fighting (if that makes any sense at all). any help would be appreciated.
I assume its fully patched?
I don't know if steam did it for you, but the patch files are huge.
I think the latest version is 2.5 or something.

The game does eat resources, but your rig is capable of running it anyway.

Some even format their comps when switching from nvidia to ati, just to make sure.
And yes, its a better thing to delete the drivers and use drivesweeper to delete the remaining files before installing new drivers.

Have you checked your temps?
Have you checked if there's a way to select your dx setting?
Since they have a dx10 patch released (dunno when) it might be bugged.

I do have it on steam, so I assume it is completely patched. My temps are fine, the cpu is around 50c and the video card is around 70c (which is normal for me in all games). I looked for a DX10 setting, but I could not find it in the options.
