Right now, I have the ATI 5850, but In the summer, my room gets way too hot, and I'm blaming it on my GPU. I don't want to downgrade, so which card is better performing than my 5850, but produces less heat? If there is no such thing, what is my next option?

Thanks.

That would be cheaper than a new gpu. There is no gpu that performs better and produces less heat. In fact one that measures cooler lets say an Asus Direct CU actually puts more heat inside your room since its wicking the heat off the gpu more efficiently.

Is your 930 OCed and have you HT on or off? Try turning HT off regardless as that uses a fair amount of power from what I've heard. And you think your room gets hot, try two 470s at 750 core and a 130W pentium D in a room my 3870 used to make warm
It's about 12-14C hotter than the rest of my house

What you want to do is create a current in your room. Cools everything.

Buy a huge fan, set it to full power and aim it towards your computer. Solved.

5850 is not your problem.

I got that for my room, an old one, but works wonders... later it turns out it was NOT my GPU, although it does exhaust a good amount of warm/hot air is does not do nearly enough. It turns out to be my monitor, and i have a second one now jeeeez... I sweat at night in my sleep if they dont auto turn off -_-.

Edit: also OP do you have custom fan profiles? I set my fans slightly higher at idle speeds, around 37% or so and it idles my GPU around 23c-25c so the heat coming out does not warm up that area where the case is.

I just bought some fans and put them in good spots for air flow along with on blowing right into my gtx465. Fans about 2 inch from my card and it help alot.
plus a fan on the top of your case pulling heat out.

get an aftermarket cooler.. unless you don't want to void the warranty! then you may pick the HD6870 TwinFrozr II or gigabyte's windforce 3X..picked the 6950 TFII and never went over 65c while gaming though my card is somewhat defected and going to RMA soon for replacement!
