low PPD on my Q6600?

250 Views 7 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Microx256
well, just got into Folding again after a little 'pause', and decided to set up my GPU and CPU client.. FahMon tells my 8800GT is getting a nice 4000-4500PPD, but my SMP client, on Q6600 is getting around 1500PPD according to FahMon.. i remember seeing people with much higher PPD's on stock Q6600 (my Q6600 is on stock at the moment for temp tesing on a new case layout).. i have set it up correctly (i believe) and its using all it can on all 4 cores..

A bit more info please...
Are you using one CPU client on all four cores?
Or are you using 2 clients w/each on 2 cores and if so you may need to set the affinity for the best results.

well.. if you read carefully, i talk about "SMP client" and not "SMP clients".. but to be clear, just 1 client on all 4 cores

you mean CPU cores? all are 100%, and the GPU client and backround tasks use 5-10%..

heres the latest entry from the log.. if it helps anything

Looks like you just got a massive wu. Since it takes longer to complete your ppd goes down but other than that looks like everything is set up correctly.

That sounds about right for stock. Some WU's are just tough.
