Becuse the higher OC is too high, causeing the card to become unstable resulting in lower scores because it's truly not working as well. Think of it this way, drink a little, you feel good. Drink too much and you go to lala land and crash.

yes, b/c if it is stable you should have no problems and it will run better. When it bocomes unstable anything can happen

Think of it as driving a car fast. Theres a comfortable speed that you can cruise at and still ahve control over the car, but if you go faster and the wheel starts to shake you will not have as much control over it.

before anything is set in stone, at least take your cards HSF off and reapply it with AS ceramique to make sure its making proper contact with the core, most manufacturers put a pathetically tiny amount of thermal compound on or just apply it badly. once that is done then see what happens and you would of found your true stable maximum.
