It's around 500MB/s read so you'll have zero issues with speed as a boot drive, for write speeds around 370MB/s. The WD Black is around 160MB/s read and 150MB/s write. The wd black will be noticeably slower than the ssd for boot times although it's not by much for how long it takes to go from power button to login screen on Windows 8 and 10, I've seen that Windows 7 seems to have slower boot times in general. Once it goes back the bios screen it's almost instant on an ssd, around 15 seconds at most on my 850 Evo which has around the same speeds
